Performance 996 vs 997 GT-3
I know the released data says 381 vs 415 HP.
Does anyone know more specifically how that increase is produced?
Thanks

The bore is larger and the stroke is shorter in the Gt3. This, by definition, allows for higher revs. Throttle grew to 82 mm if I remember correctly and varioram was modified. Variocam range also increased.

The 996GT3 was really more like 400bhp... Let see if the 997GT3 will be more than 415bhp...
Adds as much weight as the expensive $8000 PCCB option removes.

From every article that Ive read on the 997 it doesn't seem to be worlds ahead of the 996. The consensus sounds like it is a car that can now be driven closer to the limit much easier than the 996 could be driven. Other than the HP which is - relative since the 996 was blowing more or at least close to 400HP already - sounds like the biggest "improvement" in the 997GT3 is the removal of some of the bumpsteep/feedback.

The stock power on the GT3 was quite adequate, as is the power on my 997S and I'm sure the moderate bump in hp will be nice but hardly worth the cost delta.
My bet is that the new GT3 will be worth the money, not b/c of motor, but b/c of chassis improvements.

Can anyone validate that the 997 Cupcar actually uses an engine more closely resembling the 996 GT3 specific engine and internals rather than the 997 GT3 and its internals? I had read somewhere that this is in fact the case. If true, it would certainly be interesting! Thank you.

Or you(one) could lose the 20 lbs off your *** and/or prove that you are that much faster with out the hole, or just quit the bitching and buy a cup car, if you are really that good...I know its not the hole its the principle.....yada yada yada....Let the slam begin, not directed at anyone, just to the general stupidity of the anger about the hole.
