Default RUF Anyone?

Has anyone owed a Ruf before? What is the build quality VS Porsche? After reading numerous articles, I'm thinking very strongly about ordering a RT12.

Phillip,

I had Ruf modify my Turbo to Rturbo spec. I was very happy with Ruf, the process and the outcome. I recommend if you are going to go that route you meet Mr. Ruf, in Germany and get a full understanding of their capabilities. You will be impressed.

In addition I have a friend who has owned multiple Ruf cars. All have been outstanding with fit and finish absolutely top notch. His current car is a Ruf one off built to his specifications. All I can tell you is it is simply beautiful and performs like no other street car I have ever been in. Nothing short of and Enzo or CGT will touch it.

The RT12 appears to be an awesome car and no doubt will be very quick. If you want the worlds finests 911 Turbo they are clearly the best in the business. You simply can't beat their one stop shopping, everything tested and working together and their manufacturer status.

Ruf are awesome. I'm very happy with what they've done for me (turned a GT2 into a 600+bhp R-GT2). Quality is better than Porsche, service is 10x better.

I have been there a number of times (Dallas) and the attention to detail is there. I would suggest stopping in there and meet with the guys.
A very easy in and out. Near Plano. There is an exec. airport across the street.

I agree. One tend understand and appreciate his car better if he meets the guy that builds the car for him. In the mean, going to Dallas, TX is more doable .

I am sure he comes to Dallas from time to time. Give them a call. Make sure we get an update after your car is done.

Philip in al,
Pm my friend on rennlist, who just returned from Ruf Germany this week.
his rennlist name is LAT. I have been to Pfaffenhausen and spent time
with Alois. Very few Automotive experiences compare!
If you read the RT12 test, I am sure you know it is on par with
Carrera GT and Enzo, not bad company to be compared to...
Good luck with your decision, I have never known an unhappy customer
of Ruf's.
cheers,
Marty Kaye

You can have Ruf Dallas remove and send your engine to DE. Upon return they will reinstall and off you go. Some engine conversions they HAVE TO send to DE.

RT12 is simply crazy stuff. If you are not going to by a CGT then Ruf it is.

How much is the selling price of the R12 650 hp? Isn't it 100K more than R GT2 650hp conversion. Why not get the R GT2 package.

That's to be expected against 190hp car. Here's a much better race of R turbo against Kleeman CL65

Even though my BTR is just a conversion, I'm 100% sold on RUF. The total package is much more than the sum of the parts.

If you buy an original RUF VIN RT-12, then it doesn't matter if it's from Phaffenhausen or Dallas, as I believe Phaffenhausen build that car anyways. If you are going the conversion route, I'd recommend the work be done at Phaffenhausen as their culture and history there is that they won't tolerate anything less than perfection. If you are paying the price of an RT-12, definitely get the best there is.

Good luck with your hunt. It is a very special car indeed.
