When i was at RUF tag in September i recall Herr Ruf saying that the 650 package is about $200,000 and that was for a RUF VIN RT12. I fell in love with the car while at RUF and all 3 that he was building at the time were all the 650 h.p. no one had ordered any of the smaller engine packages as of that time.

Wow. It's a great car, but for me it is uncomfortably close to a used CGT in price.

Harry

Did you discuss with Alois anything about the RT12. If so, care to comment.

I know this thread is old but I thought I would post this since it might be useful to somebody.

The Ruf 460, 485, 520, and 550 Kits for the 996 Turbo can be installed at Ruf Auto Centre in Dallas, TX.

But the Ruf 590 or Nardo package can only be performed in Pfaffenhausen. For this package, you first send the car to Ruf Auto Centre, they then pull the motor and send it to Pfaffenhausen. When the work is done, they ship the car back to Dallas, Ruf Auto Centre puts it back in, and then send the car back to you.

Hope this info was useful to somebody.

Vertigo,
Good basic info, but do they send the motor or the whole car to Pf-land?
(for the 590 kit). Your post says they send the Motor to Germany, and
"they ship the car back to Dallas" ??
590 kit is about $60,000.
Best stuff around. period.

part of having a Ruf is the attention given to stiffening the body shell, making it perfect, sorting out the suspension, putting in a rollcage you can live with on a day to day basis.

Just getting the engine modified is like buying a sandwich without the filling.....

I thought I would let you all know that RUF Auto Centre is having a 1 year anniversary party on Feb 23rd from 7-10pm.

Alois and Estonia Ruf will be in attendance! They have quite a few great cars they will be showing including an RGT RS, RT 12, CTR2 Sport, 993 Turbo R, 996 Turbo R, and more.

Regards,

Ben

I forgot about one more car that will be there. It is a new 997 that has had the RUF Kompressor installed. I've been for a ride in this one and it is very impressive. Build quality is fantastic on the engine work - very professional.

RUF claims publicly that it adds 80hp/40lb-ft torque - These appear to be very conservative claims. It seems to be closer to twin turbo power - with no lag!

I didn't think they were generally regarded for their NA work.

Go and look at the work they have done with Normally Aspirated cars. Check out their engine brakes - they have two, one for forced induction, one for normally aspirated.

As well as building some lovely current model cars, using both normal and forced induction techniques, they have a considerable restoration business.

Do remember, there is a great deal more to a car than its engine. If this is all you use Ruf for, you are rather missing the point.

In general, Porsche cars hold their value over time very well in Germany. Ruf cars hold their value EXCEPTIONALLY well. To be a Ruf car it has a Ruf VIN.
