Big numbers from the new Z06
GM has done a great job on this car, but I don't know that "value" would be a good word for a Chevy.
2 years I bet you can pick these up in the high 30s...........Not a fan of the Vette, but this is a nice piece of work

OK yes it is a nice car but then again 85K or so for a GM?? Come on Couple of my co workers here have new corvets and for 1500.00 you can get a cam job on the car and BAM!! you have 500HP so where is the value. They have done it and they are very happy why pay 85K.
Never been a American sports car fan. So no intrest here. On the other side I was the first deposite here in Austin for the new RS4 from Audi. Know that is fun total sleepre with 415hp AWD

After options. My CEO here is the biggest Corvet fan you guys have ever seen. He had mumber 3 or 4 out of the production line ( Need to say the car was total buy a NEON that run a red light a week after he bought it with 200miles on it ) and has one on order and that is where the number came from.

Chevy did it right this time.
The car is light, has dry sump lubrication, brakes as big as the GT3
and very good handling.
Will I buy one? No, next on my list is a 360CS although I am worried about the maintenance on the F-car.

This car does come with a 7.0L V8 that revs to 7,100 rpm, has Titanium con rods and dry sump. 505hp and 470 ft-lbs. Pretty nice deal for $65k...

It is a fantastic value, no question but I still like my old 993tt. It is not apples to apples
comparison and I did not buy it because it was "inexpensive" . I do commend chevy however
and look forward to running against one sometime...

Why is it that everytime I hear about the Z06, it is something like "great value", "... for the money...", "inexpensive"...
Those are not terms I'd use to describe a sports car for sure...
Oh well, there is evidence on Rennlist that I am not a big fan of the Vett on any shape or form... but I would not tell anybody not to get one if that is what floats their boat...
Cheers...

Why not buy a Dodge viper at $85K:
500 horsepower
525 lb-ft of torque
505 cubic inches of displacement
14-inch front and rear vented brake rotors
0-60 in 3.6 seeconds (claimed)
Or a Honda/Acura NSX at $79K?

In the end, we all should buy what 'moves' us. Having driven the current Z06 and been in them on track, I get out of the car and think 'big deal'. Not a compelling drive for me. I don't buy a spec sheet, I buy cars that deliver a great driving experience.
Maybe the new one will have more soul. Who knows.
Mad props to GM for building a helluva product though.

It is basically on a par with a 2005 996 GT2 in performance (and possibly faster)...
