Default GT3RSR 8:32 Ring and Pinion Gear, new suspension...

The car got:

- 05 GT3 RSR 8:32 ring and pinion gear (stronger than the Cup version and 04RSR)
- 04 GT3 Cup Steel LSD
- 3.8RSR Clutch Pressure Plate
- Moton ClubSports DA with remote canisters.
- Eibach Linear Springs 750 lbs / 1000 lbs (vs. 280 linear/550 progressive stock)
- Tender springs
- Manthey Racing Camber Plates
- Rear monoball strut mounts

My car got a new transmission at 2,000 miles last year. Reason: broken LSD. When the transmission was opened to upgrade the ring and pinion gear last month, the LSD was gone. The stock LSD is made of brass and it doesn't last at all.

I'm still running the 275/335 Toyo RA-1 on the stock wheels. The car handles extremely well.

Default Mileage

I am concerned about your lessons learned on the LSD.

How much mileage did your have prior to failure?

How did you know it was bad? Noise, Vibration, or had it on a lift and spun the rear wheels?

How often should I check my LSD for proper operation and how is it performed?

Thanks/John

Is the stock ring and pinion ratio also 8:32 in a GT3? Just wondering.

That's great new.....How do you like it with the lower R&P? I am happy with my gear changes.

Nice increase on the spring rates.... have you had a chance to dial in the new DA shocks?

How's the ride?

Are you starting to like the Toyo's more?.....

getting the MPSC 265 installed today....going to try the sway bars as is..stock settings.

The First LSD broke at 2,000 miles. The second LSD didn't break but it was gone at 14,000 miles (no grip). To test it, lift one side at the rear, leaving the car in neutral and no handbrake. Try to rotate the lifted rear tire, if you're able to rotate it counter clockwise, your LSD is gone. Using a torque wrench on the center nut at the rear lifted wheel, should have a torque resistant of about 40 lb/ft, anything below that indicates wear on the LSD. The problem is on the material used on the stock LSD. The new steel LSD locks at 40% and not at 25% as the stock one (even that Porsche claims 40% lock on the stock LSD), it also locks at higher torque (90lbs/ft vs 40lbs/ft stock). The 05 GT3Cup LSD locks at 40% but at 150lb/ft, which is too much for the streets and rain.

The stock ring and pinion gear is a 3.44:1. The one I installed is a 4.00:1

I'm still working on the shocks setup for autocross. I do have a good setup for the track, and I tested it. The ride is softer than the stock suspension, I don't have an explanation for that other than the tender springs and the adjustable shocks.

The handling nightmares with the RA-1 were the consequences of bad alignment. The shop was printing alignment specs different to what they were doing to the car. To confirm that, I did the alignment, I went to another shop and asked them to read the specs. The car had one rear wheel with toe out . We did the alignment again, and the car converted into the best car I've ever driven. The car has grip in excess and the handling is amazing. I just ordered a set of 275/335 Hoosier A3S05 and I will be testing them next weekend.

Next track events are Pocono Full Course, Pocono North, Lime Rock with NNJR-PCA and PDA.

Who did you get to do the work? Having tried to source out projects of my own it increasingly seems to me that one of the biggest factors in determining how effective your setup is would be who sets it up. I would guess you'd want someone with a lot of cup car experience since that is closer in purpose to your setup than most mild gt3 upgrades.
