GT# Recall
Here's what I heard from my dealer this morning-
There will be a recall announcement on September 4th for GT3's with ceretain serial numbers. The reason for the recall is faulty exhaust valve spring retainers. Has anyone heard of GT3's dropping exhaust valves?

I've got to say, if I get a recall that requires any part of my motor having to be taken apart, Porsche will be giving me a new car or my $$ back.
There is NO way I trust any of the lame dealers around here to change my oil let alone pull my car apart....

Maybe they can put some of that RMS replacement experience to good use...

Like I'm going to let the local dealer (who has sold 1 GT3) tear apart an engine when they can't be sure they can even align it because it's too low???? When I had a BMW M3 it needed an oil pump recall- drove 3 hours to Kansas City because that dealer had done the repair to several cars. Still made me nervous- sold that car to get the GT3. Sure hope you heard wrong!
What builds (serial #s) are they targeting???

If there were failures we'd hear about it! The bimmer boards were full of stories of the M3 engine meltdowns! It happened so much BMW finally had to admit there was a problem...

Called PCNA and had them look at my VIN
I have no recalls identified, of course I have one of the later builds so that may have a benefit towards recall necessity. PCNA has told me that they get the info on the computer just like the dealers, from Weissach, and there is nothing identified for my Speed Yellow car by its VIN.

I heard the same rumour. Apparently it will be limited to something like 12 cars that were built during a specific time period when the bad retainers were being used at the factory. I didn't get the date range, unfortunately. If the work has to be done, pull off the valve cover and replacing the spring retainers is a pretty simple job. I doubt it even requires dropping the engine.
