Default My IMS Story...

Well after 5 years of ownership and a total of 110K miles on my 2003 C4S, my original IMS is just fine. I actually sold my car this week, I'm ready to move to a newer 911. I never bothered upgrading, even though I probably would have done it once my clutch went out, but it didn't.

So to all the 996 haters and the IMS paranoia freaks, my 996 served me just right, On It Orignal IMS!

You are the only one. Every 996 owner knows the 29 modes of failure and the risk of using non Porsche Dealer sold parts.

How dare you post such an insulting comment to those who have spent thousands of dollars replacing perfectly good parts.

I bet you bought your oil at WallyMart and that cheap Mobil two 0W40 junk.

Blaspheme I tell you.

Seriously, thanks for posting.

What year P car up next?

I bought mine a month ago with 127k miles on it and owner had all the records and on the original IMS. That being said I got an LN IMS installed before I filled up the gas tank again.

Congrats! Mind I ask what you sold the c4s for? I have a 2002 that I'm considering listing.

Mine was perfect at 102k miles when I extracted it and replaced it with LNE..... so odd that a small percentage fail so badly

How can you be 100% sure that it was fine without pulling and inspecting it?

Yeah me too! I'm waiting for a failed clutch, a leaking RMS or even failed AOS to precipitate IMS replacement but its not happened yet. 93k miles and running strong on the original IMS :-)
