Jake, I've been nothing but impressed with your knowledge and expertise in everything I've seen from you - whether its in this forum, on BaT or elsewhere. You and your company are the reason why I've felt comfortable considering a 996 in the past and may buy one in the future. As far as I'm concerned you are a primary reason these cars have increased in popularity and are starting to appreciate in value.

Your technical knowledge, ability to solve hard problems and the impact you've made for 1000's of owners is what matters. Communication foibles happen and can be corrected, don't worry about it.

Absolutely!! We will take them, and wear them with pride!

I think my problem lies in the fact that I was born at least 50 years late. My feelings are more in line with that of my dad, probably because he raised me by himself after my mom passed away. He was 45 when I was born, and from the time I was 13 I was already in business, having built my first Porsche (914) engine for a paying customer... From the time I was 10, I was dealing with tenants at our rental properties, collecting rent, and kicking people out if they didn't pay... I learned early on about liars, thieves, and cheaters.

I was taught to do business with hundred dollar bills, look a man in the eye, and have a real handshake. I was taught to cower to no man, and that the only way around trouble was straight through the damn middle of it.

Anyway, thats more for a story that may be written down the road.

Thank you. I could do much, much more of this. Each time I consider it, I lose the inspiration when I remember what happens with the fall out. Then we have to consider the copy cats, and the cut/paste mafia who are the reason why I really haven't updated my site since 2011. No real need to, as we stay too busy as it is. At times I have been temped to pull the whole thing down and replace it with one page that only has our contact info and says "Engine blown up? Call us".

Thats because I hate the image side of things. The whole blingy, advertisy feel of these other guys makes me feel like they are less than experienced slimeballs, and thats exactly what the majority have proven to be. In the Porsche world affording a big ad (even if it goes on a credit card, because you really can't afford it) gives people a fake impression that you are the man, and that you are successful, and deserve their work. Thats just like campaigning a race car... That also gives people a false impression that you know how to solve their engine problems- just because you can run around in circles, waste gas, and burn up tires. If I had a dollar from every time I hear "My mechanic races Porsches", and then he ends up being a hack that has no idea what he is doing with an M96.

My wife currently holds 4 Land Speed records in a N/A 996, but none of you knew that- because its absolutely irrelevant to what we do here. At the end of the day it really doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone other than my family.

People today are followers. They want someone to sign something, maybe the dash of their car. Recently a car came here that had Magnus Walker sign the dash, and I just shook my head about what this has all come to. I hope the owner of that car doesn't ask me to sign the dash, too.

Like I said, I probably started this game of life about 50 years to late. Hell, maybe 100 years too late!

I have to find the outlets that allow me to share experiences with the least amount of "after taste" possible. Thats not easy, because people want a "hero", or something, and "who" says something is more important to them than what is being said.

Let's just say that today's Porsche world isn't the one I grew up in.

Humans have always been followers. Your view on history seems to ignore, well, history. 100 years ago legions of 'non-followers' were getting ready to participate in the greatest equity market bubble & crash in human history. Which was followed by the rise of post-WWI, reactionary nationalism in Western Europe & attendant crowd following among the German electorate. The underlying phenomenon of following has its roots in positive and negative feedback loops, which impact social interaction, language mutation, financial markets, and countless natural phenomena.

Humans don't change all that much. The wise thing to do is to not let the fools derail you from your purpose. If that purpose is to share knowledge with this forum, why the angst over 'cut & paste mafia' sharing your findings? Would you prefer that rennlisters not read your site? The inconsistency with which you manage yourself on the forum is the main driver of animus towards you. Alternating between dismissive condescension & irrational obfuscation doesn't have a damn thing to do with protecting your business. It's just nonsense in your head, and nobody else's.

Do what you do, stand tall, and forget anyone that tries to undermine you. It'll never work &, as a consequence, isn't worth your time.

Yes, but not how you think. Your autism needs to be managed, not spit out on everyone around you.

This kerfuffle started with you getting emotional about someone sharing your web page. You thought you were being undermined, but that's because you act like a pu55y when people that actually want to undermine you speak up. Stop being g a pu55y and you'll get into fewer emotional meltdowns.

You've just about pissed me off with that last response. For the better of everyone I'll put you on ignore, and suggest that you do the same to me.

Remember, its best if I forget everyone who tries to undermine me. Done.

Guys, everyone needs to take a step back and not inflame an already contentious thread. No name calling, please. Closing this thread for a bit.

Opening this thread back up under the assumption that everyone is going to be civil and level-headed. No name calling. Might be best for all parties to be more objective and measured.

Thanks, guys.

I've been told that fear usually elicits one of two reactions, fight or flight. My guess is he chose the later. That's what I would have done...Are you suggesting something else?
