Default P72 Option Code

Hi

My 1999 996 C2 has option code P72.

Anyone know what it is?

It's a C16 UK car with a manual gearbox, so the lists that show "P72 Design Package - TIP" are confusing.

Cheers

Pretty sure it's a "bundled options" code. My master spreadsheet (which I think is for USA cars only) does not have the code for P72. I only have these:

P73 Option package incl. 551 680
P74 Option package incl. 288 601
P77 Option package incl. 375 376

Someone from the other side of the big cold pond will need to chime in... Sorry.

found in another forum

"... the 1999 996 is the only model year 996 with a locking (limited slip) differential--which apparently uses Anti-Slip Regulation and Automatic Braking Differentiation as a package dubbed "Traction Control"--order code P72."

The car has got traction control - well there is a button on the dash.

A limited slip would be a nice bonus.

Any way to confirm this other than jacking up the rear and rotating the rear wheels?

If you have option code 220 it should have the LSD.
no idea if it would be mentioned separately like that with such a package code.

Code 220 not listed - will check next time the car is jacked up

219 Regular differential (without limited slip)
220 LSD Limited Slip Differential
222 Traction control ASR AntriebsSchlupfRegelung
224 Traction control ABD Automatic Braking Differential

P72 probably = 220, 222, 224

You can go to a Stealership and get the full build sheet for your car, which shows everything "else" that doesn't make it onto the sticker inside the hood.
