PSM, ABS, Brake Wear, Brake distribution and Tiptronic stuck in gear 3 for 996 TT
After done some Tire alignment and camber adjustment, I discover all 4 sides connectors for wheel speed sensors and brake pad wear sensors are all cracked up and required replacement. 2 days later, PSM, ABS Brake distribution warning lights came up in addition to the Red brake warning light that has been lit up since I got the car Nov 2016. Then comes the tiptronic gear stuck in gear 3. Unable to shift to gear 2 or gear 4 even using manual.
The tip doesnt look like a gearbox failure but more like electronically restrained gear shift as after I turned off the engine and restart, the gear shifted ok again but after 2-3km distance, it get stucked again at gear 3?
Could this be due to the cable harness issues on all 4 sides, PSM and ABS sensors that cause the tip to malfunction?
All your experiences are valuable to me. Thanks

Did you actually check the brake pads for wear? Install new brake pads and brake pad wear sensors on all four corners and your problem will probably go away. Also make sure all sensors are plugged in correctly.

Brake pads were fine with around 60% left. Wear sensors were changed once at a garage but remain the same. Only Lately when I did my tires alignment and adjusted the camber at rear, I was informed that the connectors to the wheel speed sensors and the brake wear sensors are cracked and possibly that cause the brake wear warning light, PSM and ABS lights. Initially the PSM ABS lights went off for a cool 4 months after I changes a new battery. I have ordered cable harnesses for all 4 corners and should be able to replace them next week. My guess is this might be the reason that cause all these sensors and warning lights to come on.

When I got this car 6 months ago, the car was not drivable. After some repairing jobs over a period of 2 months, replacing fuel pump, MAF sensor, Fuel sender, fuel filter, brake pad check, diagnostic report that ABS return pump faulty but mechanical check seemed ok. The car was moving fine for 1 month while PSM ABS and Brake lights still on. Replaced a new battery, then the PSM ABS lights off but with brake light still remained but driving well and normal for another 3 months. Then I replaced the brake wear sensors, then brake light remain the same. Only until recently when I brought in for a tire alignment and camber adjustment and found that the connectors to the brake wear sensors and speed sensors cracked up because they became more visible and PSM ABS came back up after 2 days for tires work plus now brake distribution light lit up and lastly the tiptronic is electrically restricted to gear 3 only and not able to downshift to gear 2 and upshift to gear 4 both automatic and manual mode. When engine turned off and restart again, the tip works again for about 2-3km and fail again. Every effort has been put in to try to rectify the brake and only now I think I found the root cause of it. I have ordered the cable harness for all 4 corners for complete replacement and hopefully this will improve the situation and solve the tip problem.

Latest updates - after changing all 4 wiring harnesses and connectors, the PSM/ABS light went off and tiptronic back to working condition. Only thing now left with the brake light still lit up although I had replaced again 4 new wear pad sensors connected to new connectors, flushed out the brake fluids and replaced with new fluid.
