Compartment lid warning light
I have a compartment lid warning light that can't be cleared by ensuring both lids are solidly closed. I was able to check the rear lid microswitch that is activated when that lid is closed and it is ok - makes and breaks properly by continuity check.
Are there other areas to troubleshoot in order to clear this warning light?

There is a microswitch on the latch mechanism for the front trunk lid. Did you check that as well? See #9 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=803-00

Yes, I did the same check as the rear lid. When the latches are closed with a closed lid the switches are in the open position and when the lid latches are open with the lid open, the switches are in the closed position. They both seem to be working as intended.
As indicated in the manual, both compartment lights remain on for a time after the lid is closed, so they are getting power from another source other than through the switches.

Hmmm...what exactly what compartment open warning light are you referring to? I checked my owners manual and do not see a warning light on the instrument panel for the compartments, i.e, frunk or engine lid. In fact, I know I have driven with my hood ajar and there was no warning light. There is the retractable rear spoiler light, rollover protection warning system light and the convertible top warning light. Of course, mine is a 99 and yours is a 2002. Maybe something different.

I'm really at a loss for another guess on this one. Logic would dictate that for the compartment warning light to be on, one of the microswitches is not working correctly. That's how the car would detect whether something is open or not. On the engine lid, when you open it does the light come on on the deck lid? Same for the trunk, when you open it does the trunk light come on? Also, are you getting any horn beeps when you lock the car? Like when a zone is open it beeps to tell you something is not closed....just wondering.

I do see the luggage compartment light switch and engine lid light switch report to the central alarm system, which probably detects whether the lid is open or closed and turns on the dash light. I would be surprised if you are not getting beeps when locking the car.
