Default Navtech Navigation CD

Anyone know where I can get the up to date Navtech CD set for the PCM navigation? My CD's say 2000.1. I live in Madison Wisconsin and cannot even locate my own street with the CD set I have...unless I am doing something wrong.

Thanks.

I called Navtech for the same problem in March of 03 (I live in Indiana, and the map runs out of info about 15 miles west of my home). The rep told me that a new disc was coming out in Feb. 04. I was going to wait til then and call again. Navtech has all the info for their other brand customers. It appears that Porsche did not buy it from them. The first line of BS was that Navtech "verifies" all its maps by over-the-road drivers, and they hadn't gotten everywhere yet. That answer was abandoned when they admitted to ownership of the Lincoln and Lexus map data, and my neighbors with those systems are perfect in my town, but the Porsche system just shows a sea of green. It's really frustrating, since it seems to have been an economic, not technical decision. I think they looked at thel ocation of new Porsche buyers, and ignored the smaller markets. Bad choice which seems to have been addressed on the new models. AS

Are you saying that the 2000.1 disc's I have are the latest that are out. Or are their newer disc's that I could buy, before the new one's come out? I feel your pain. We buy expensive cars and cannot even get the same level as a car half the price....

Have a 911 4S 2002 with PCM and wonder about the new updates too.
Also own a 2003 Mini Cooper S with a NAV system. When updates were released they sent a copy to me at no charge. Does anyone know if Navtech does this for Porsche cars.

Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!

The coverage in my area is horrible as well. You can't even get one for Canada.

Wisconson uses 2 discs with the PCM1 #'s 3&7
Which disc do you have?
The PCM1 uses 7 discs to cover the USA, PCM2 uses 2

A real question would be if pcm2 discs work on pcm1 and or can you use newer discs on any older drive? I know pcm1 is cdrom so that's that and pcm2 is dvd so I guess that is the answer, but the main question is why not burn copies? Mercedes navs are burnt all the time on the eur versions!

Just got off the horn with Navtech and they said that they made a new disc for the PCM I but it had major flaws, so they didn't release it. Techs are working on getting the kinks out, but no release date is scheduled yet.

The customer service rep implied, but did not say outright, that Navtech is focusing its Porsche efforts on the PCM II, not the PCM I.

Think you're dead on.

Back in April of 02 I beat this horse till I PCNA wore me out.

Here's the letter they finally sent me. Since then I have had no follow-up.

I love the 996 {I have two!}, but with respect to my $8K NAV system, Porsche really sucks! Friggin Fords Nav system is better, and that aint sayin much! Sorry I get pretty steamed about Porsche's NAV.

For many areas including mine in Northeast Pennsylvania PCM II is no better. I just paid over $200 for the "latest" 2003 update and the coverage is NO better. Either Navtech is a joke or Porsche is screwing its customers by buying outdated maps. I tried to speak with the regional Porcshe rep. but he won't talk to me and refers my dealership service manager to Navtech (who says it is a Porcshe problem). I have over $5K of PCM hardware in my C4S and Cayenne S and both are useless in my area . . .PS: don't bother calling Porcshe customer service as they simply log your call but forward the info. to NO ONE fr followup. . .

If you're asking me, I didn't write to them, I called them. But if it helps, here is the address that was on the "dear john" letter they wrote me back.
