It's all that matters.

I paid a tad over 20, but had fairly new clutch, IMS done, etc.

Of course, once you get to know the car, you start tinkering here and there, spending money…

But the smiles are priceless.

Thanks a lot. Found this local shop for ppi locally. http://www.cimmotorsports.net/

Anyone heard of em?

I am expanding my search to include 986 and 944s.

There was a guy on the forums selling a super clean 95 968 for $15.9k, that might be interesting if you're looking at 944s as well.

I paid around 17 for my 99 C4 with 53k on it, so I don't think it should be too hard to find a clean, early 996 in the 15-18k range as Slakker said.

Remember sports cars have a premium in SoCal. I would expect your car to be a few grand more here.

Leo I too live in Rockland County. I am selling a really nice 996 C4 Aero here on rennlist, but a bit over your budget. My recommendation is a 996 priced at 15,K is going to end up costing you considerably more in the long run. For that money you just cannot beat a 986 or even an early 987. They are amazing cars, and finding a real nice one under 15K is very doable. I personally lean towards the early 2.5 liter cars. They are the most fun and with the double chain IMS can be very reliable. Best of Luck.

I agree you won't find a 996 worth buying for 10k. If your patient you'll get one well under 20. But if you start looking at 986s I'd look at s2000s. Get a higher mileage, clean s2k for under 15k.

Thanks I know 996 for 10 is not possible. But close to 15ish?

S2000 Honda is not for me

Check this out. The interview is awful and the guy is absolutely not budging on price.

I think that a 944 is probibly the most troublesum porsche ever made, as I said the 996 was the first almost trouble free porsche

Don't forget Canadian Cars. You are currently at a price advantage due to the USD being stronger than the CAD to the tune of $1.30 (last time I checked).

Quebec is not too far away from New York State and widens the field, not sure about import duty etc, but worth a look?

This one looks like a good proposition: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/s...168114319?null

At his full asking price of $21.5K CAD= $16.5USD, its a US car so MPH Speedo, seems to have IMS and clutch.

If I spoke French, I could have more of an opinion about this.
