Here are a couple of my car

It was a really fun weekend, even with the rain. Nothing like driving 120+ on the SuperSpeedway section in the rain

While all the advice that you have received is good advice and your on track experience is invaluable, no one has made any mention of getting more air to your brakes and calipers. A simple and inexpensive (relatively, as this is Porsche) assist for anyone doing track days would be to add GT3 brake ducts.

Yes, you can go ever bigger, with either Rs ducts, GT2 ducts or cup car ducts, (its has been so long since I researched and at least one of these are "bigger") as this will direct more air to the brakes and rotors and help to prevent fade and warping. GL

Isn't it amazing how much stick you get in the wet?!?! And the banking gets grippier the higher you go. You can feel the change in the pavement from lane to lane.

OEM is Textar. I wore EBC Yellow Stuff to the backing plates with front and rears installed (rears were maybe 20% remaining so not terrible bias problem in my case) and I do not recommend you buy those for any use. I do recommend PFC 08s for track, as well as several others here...

Cool. What about HAWK HP+ ?

Anyway, I'll be going to the track stock, at least for the first event. I still feel like, this is hell a lot of a car as it is.

@ Pete
I think it is time for an upgrade. She is still rock solid, but time to make a change....probably later this year....watching prices, for now, and ISO, the car with the exact right spec, for me.
Plate is full, selling my house, got an apartment and building a new house (with a lift)...if it all works, gonna put a dream ride in the garage...............

I just wrapped a DE weekend on on stock OE pads...really couldn't decide what track pads to go with so I bought some new stock pads and took measurements. Here goes:

New Thickness (only pad material, not backing plate):
  • Front - 12.1 and 12.2 mm
  • Rear - 10.2 mm
After 2 Track Days (4 sessions per day, 20-25 min per session, also only measuring material not backing plate)
  • Front - 9.4 mm
  • Rear - 8.4 mm

Other notable qualifiers - Fluid was fresh ATE Typ 200, Tires were Sumitomo HTR III Z, track was dry and fast. Maximum speed on this track before heavy threshold braking for me is ~122 mph down to about 80 mph. I never experienced fade, but was wanting for a bit more mid-pedal performance. The stock pads bite well, but do soften up predictably when you stand on 'em.

There was no noticeable rotor wear, spider cracks, etc...

Default Nothing new here . . .

Yet another vote for going with stock pads for now. Maybe you're faster than me, but stock pads on my 996 were fine for 20 to 25-minute sessions at Summit Point, VIR, etc. with no noticeable fade.

When I switched to R-comps from street tires last year I also switched to PFC-08 pads. I'm very happy with them in terms of performance, and they are not crazy hard on my rotors. I'm still using stock rotors.
