Default aerokit wing and bumper - what's it worth ?

I am about to trade in my car to carmax.

The car is leaking from the gearbox after sitting for a few weeks, I bet it is the RMS ... again. but this time I just don't want to drop the gearbox to just do that $20 part and I don't want to invest $3,500 for IMS + clutch.

so i think time to trade it in.

Question is : how much is my Aerokit mkII wing and front bumper worth used ?

I have both poem part and thinking to put them back on before trading in the car, i doubt I'll get a penny more with the wing on the car.

I recall this car being for sale less than a year ago. I can't tell you what your aero wing is worth or bumper, but Carmax is going to rip you off. I bought my car with an RMS leak and negotiated $1000 off our already negotiated price once the PPI called it out.

If I remember this car correctly it's a very well optioned car, right?

Yes it is a nice car, full leather, row030 suspension, manual and no traction control. Usual rennlist mods like fisterD muffler or Dension ipod connection.

I am sure more option can be had but very nice car. Only 52k miles on it.

Last year, I tired to sell it and barely had any interest even though I listed it around $29k I think.

anyways I don't think I can get more than $25k for it. I figure if Carmax gives me $20k, factoring a potential $3k "repair and while in there" thing. I will get pretty close to what I would sell it.

Love the car but wife is pregnant and I don't see myself driving it for a while.

I bought the wing used 4 years ago, bumper was new.
I would say wing is worth $2,000 and bumper $800.
I just don't know these days as the wing is really pricey brand new, like $5,000 if I recall.

$1500-2k for wing based on recent historical data.

800-1k for front bumper.

At these prices though, you might have to wait for the right buyer as the 996 crowd generally are looking for deals before they get off the fence.

Let me know if/when you are ready to put them up for sale. Are they factory OEM or aftermarket?

They are both OEM parts, I bought the bumper new and the wind used on Rennlist, seems like a legit part.
Paint will cost a bundle, hopefully someone with a meteor/seal gray can be interested

That's a beautiful machine! Hate to hear you're letting it go, but the financial support and care of your new *real* baby is more important than any car... without a doubt.

Fortunately for me, Jim Ellis Porsche replaced my RMS in '09 with the so-called "fix". I believe it was replaced by Porsche one other time, but began to leak. I've owned the car for almost a year and not a drop of oil on the ground. Personally, in my area, the MkII cars with OEM aero kits are getting mid to upper 20s all day. What model is it? Can post more pics?

you can see my ad from 2004 here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...erokit-fl.html

The problem with the car is that the RMS was changed 4 times during its life, 3 times under previous owners and once during my ownership, actually 2 years ago. Done by the dealership under extended warranty.

For some reason the car can't keep its RMS in place. I have to say that I had no problem when I was driving the car regularly, but lately it has been sitting a lot more.

plenty of pics here for those who want to waste some time
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jo40504wh...7bZ1_kNra?dl=0

since then I actually restored the headlight and added expel film to them, they look like new.

i just went under the car a few minutes ago, the leak is still very minor, I will change the oil and inspect the filter to make sure there are no metal debris, never know in case the *** is falling apart

I think I can sell the car for $25k without the leak, let's say $23k with the leak to a 'connaisseur'.
So if I sell it for $20k at carmax, without the payment scam risk, i think I am where I need to be.

Ihave to say that I have been contemplating seling it many times... LOL

I was never able to let it go, it is such a nice drive for the money... but kiddo on the way may be the tipping point

I think you will be disappointed at the offer from Carmax - but please do post up what they offer.

That's a shame. It's a really great looking car.

I have a very similiar issue. I finally just quit worrying about it. I'll probably try to seal it up myself the next time I do my clutch. There's been some reports that the case could be out of round, contributing to the leak.

The inbound baby I can see as a reason, otherwise, just hang on to it.

Phil how you been my friend? Guys this a very nice car. I've been on the track with it a few times. GT3 buckets also. I would still try to find a private buyer before going to CarMax. Good luck.
