Since it's a wrap I think it's worth a shot to do it. Easily removable if you don't like it. Since you have black wheels I think it may look decent.

Photoshop it first (much cheaper than an actual wrap) so you can have a better idea if you will really like it or not. At the end of the day, it is WHAT YOU LIKE that matters.

P.S. But since you asked for opinions, IT IS A NO for me because it will be a bit too RICER-esque IMHO. Image below swiped from the net in case you have not GOOGLEd yet

It always strikes me as a car that has replacement panel that hasn't been painted. But, I'm sure I do things with my cars that aren't to other people's taste either.

It's your car, make it your own in the manner that makes you happy.

I think this looks pretty cool:

Friend of mine has a silver turbo with a black hood. And every time I see it, I think 'fiberglass for weight.'

Not a fan.

It looks more together with the added stone guards at the rear wheels in the smaller photo. The black would need to match though.

stone guards added - stone guards make no sense on narrow body so that would be my 1st objection - and i've never liked black hoods or black wheels on 996 so i will remove myself from judging instead of my usual put downs and obnoxious responses

Yuck, always makes me think someone replaced a body panel and hasn't got around to painting it to match the rest of the car. Maybe if you added some racing stickers all over the car and a big wing it could offset this, but otherwise my vote is no.

It would definitely take a car that already catches your eye and make it stick out even more. But you have to figure out what will make you smile every time you look at your car. For my grey 535i, it was simply a dark tint and powder coated black wheels. Not sure yet what it will be on my 996.

I think it looks much better red. But if you like it go for it.
