Found this on 6so in response to similar question:

breather bellows (AOS) or valve cover sealant/ cam plug. Reseal the cover, replace the cam plugs and the bellows. Change oil too.
Depending on engine the spark plug tubes some times leak...

Thank you.

The fluid appears to be coming off of that large predominant but in the picture but it could just be dripping from above...

Here are some more photos of the wet areas. Didn't think it sounded like marbles in a coffee can but will see what happens.

Expect the worst and hope for the best, I still adore my car and it has been the most reliable car I've ever owned.

The AOS lves right above that. I coudldn't explain the noise thogh as the AOS is not under any oil pressure. It's under coolant pressure. Can you tell if it's oil or coolant?

I wanted to say at first it was coolant, but the ground is so dirty I can't tell. Let me see if I can get a sample and take a picture.

Smear some on a piece of printer paper and you can see better if it leaves oily patches or it's more like water dropped on the paper. Looks like oil to me.

Cam plugs is a possibility like kc said. Has the driver's side cam cover ever been off the car for repair?

Hi Ahsai,

Thanks for your replies. The car is sitting outside my shop now so I can smear the paper. If it is oil what do you think it could be? I would rather it be coolant!

And I did not loose oil pressure according to the gauge, that was the first thing I looked at, the car ran for about 30 seconds after the noise before I shut it down.

If it's oil, I would think cam plugs make sense. If it's coolant, it's either the AOS or the coolant tank. However, instead of us guessing here, someone will have to jack up the car and take a good look from below and use his hand to feel around...only way to find out for sure.

Mechanic looked under car "oil separator." How much should I expect to pay for a new AOS installed?
