Anyone Installed the Continental TR7418UB-OR Radio
My CDR210 is on the way out and am looking for an updated (Bluetooth) aesthetically matching radio. The Continental sell for about $200 on ebay.de and I'm wondering if installation is complicated. The 993 forum says its a plug and play but wondering if any 996ers have taken the plunge. Any pictures?
Cheers

C-Pro,
I have not installed this radio.
However, I cannot find "Continental TR7418UB-OR" on Google search.
Can you point me to a link to one on the Internet?
NOTE TO SELF: It's an old-fashioned classic Becker; see this link http://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php/...7418ub-or.html

So I ordered the Continental radio (without CD) directly from Tore and asked him to develop a plug-and-play harness for the 996. I currently have the CDR-220 with Bose. The head unit and harness are on their way from Norway as we speak.
A few things to note:
1: I decided to lose the CD changer. The head unit I chose does not allow for an auxiliary CD changer. No biggie.
2: the harness was a one-off development. While we think it will work, there may need to be further development.
3: Tore is an absolute gentleman who is very responsive. I ordered directly through his website. The guy knows his stuff.
I'm hoping this will be a good solution. I will report back to the forum when it is arrived and is installed.

The guy on the 993 forum who sells the Continental radios is currently working on a 996 plug and play solution for people who want to use the OEM amp. I have the Hi Fi OEM option and I want to use it.
Oops. Didn't see zachsdad1's post. Tore is also working on a non-Most harness as well.

Update: install complete
I received the Continental receiver and 996 harness from Tore. Installation was easy thanks to the harness and support from Tore. Radio sounds great, now I have the ability to stream music from my phone and the Bluetooth connectivity is clear.
So as for the Bluetooth, the unit has a built in microphone and an external, wired microphone. I didn't install the wired mic as I didn't want to start removing pillar trim and risk snapping anything due to the cold.
The unit fit with minor modification to the plastic console frame. The fit, finish and illumination is spot on. Pics below will make you a Belieber!

Zach. Thanks. It looks great and "proper." My big concern was the installation and from what you describe you did it yourself without much trouble.
I'll order one and post pictures also.

You won't be disappointed. It really is easy to install. That's said, I would contact Tore directly through his company website and tell him what system you currently have so he can craft the right harness. I'm no audio guy, but I'm happy to help if you get in a pinch.

Nice job. If you have an iPhone, how is the integration?
Btw - you need to lose the cassette holders.
