Agree completely with the cassette holder comment. Going with the console delete. Just haven't ordered it yet.

I have an iPhone 6s. No issues that I can see thus far with pairing, caller id or streaming Pandora. Directions via the maps application also plays through the speakers.

Excellent! I'm waiting for Tore to get back to me about a harness for my car so I can used my amp (Factory Hi Fi option).

How is the built-in Mic? I have an existing external Mic near the driver's sun visor that is from the previous owner. I might use that.

I was also wondering how easy it would be to remove the "Continental" so I can replace it with a Porsche decal.

I have a cab with hardtop now. The built in mic was sensitive enough with light road noise. I suspect it will not be as effective when the cabin gets a bit louder. Tore strongly encouraged me to use the external, wired mic.

Not sure about the sticker, but when you power up the unit, it says WELCOME. It would be trick it if said PORSCHE. Not sure if that can be achieved

That would be nice. It's worth investigating.

I have the 412UB (no CD) installed in my car in Germany. The fit and finish are great,, installation a breeze. Please remember that this unit does not have a line level (pre amp) output to use with an external amp. It's power is sufficient but might not be enough in a cab. But then you could use an external amp that accepts speaker level input. The sound quality is good but gets better with an external amp. The internal amp struggles with loads < 4 Ohms and overheats and shuts off.

Does Continental have any units that do have line level (pre amp) outputs? It would be great if it could be used with the in place 996 Nokia 6 channel amp.

I am confused: Does Tore's harness work with MOST system or pre-MOST model years? Secondly, who is Tore and how do I contact him?

Tore is the owner of Bergvill F/X located in Norway. I contacted him through his company website:

Sjg1138: Continental car stereos (as well as Axion and VDO brands) are made by Kienzle and geared towards commercial vehicles. I have not seen a single DIN radio by Continental with line level outputs. Also, these units offer a hands free Phone connection via BT, but to my knowledge they do not transfer your phone book to the stereo. Basic BT music streaming is provided, but not always reliable in my experience with intermittent drop outs.
Kienzle MCR 1016 has 4 line level outputs but it's style might be objectionable to Porsche style patrol.
Addendum: Krämer KR-737 (ca. 400 Euros) is the same unit as the classic radio offered by Porsche for 1184 Euro.

That Krämer KR-737 looks great although its a shame they put a Piano Black finish on it. Matt Black would fit in much better. Actually digging around, it appears that they may not all be glossy black: http://www.kraemerautomotive.com/produkt/kr-737

EMBpilot, this is incorrect.
The Continental 7412 and 7418 are the same in these respects. Both have backlighting, in the LCD and keys. The latter is controlled by supplying power to the A6 illumination input at the back. Both units have of course fader, balance and bass/treble controls, as well as Bluetooth A2DP, international AM/FM tuner and a USB input for use with memory sticks.
The main difference between the 7412 and 7418 units is the CD player and the DAB radio functionality in the 7418. DAB radio is becoming a common digital radio standard in Europe.

All this is well documented by the User Manuals of the two products.

Cheers,
Tore

Maybe a dumb questions, but can you charge an iPhone via the USB slot? I understand it is for USB media connection but was interested if it would charge.

Thanks in advance ...
