Had the afternoon off. Wife and 2 kids in Europe. One kid at work, one at camp and one at a friends. Just my oldest home. Asked what she wanted to do and she had research to do. So I was going to get stuff done around the house. She told me I should go work on the Porsche. So I did a job I have waited 2 years to do. One of the nuts on the battery tray was eaten away by acid and instead of a hex shape was round. When I got the car I cleaned and neutralized. Today with the help of a dremel, hammer, and chisel fixed it. Had some primer and black paint in the house. 4 new nuts from Home Depot for $1.31. Cheapest project I ever did. Also cleaned the drains and the front tires.
6 kids in 8 years. Ages 12-20. We started young and were not very bright. If I would have stopped at 2 like I should have I would have been 43 and an empty nester and planning for retirement. Now I am looking forward to working forever.
Nice job...Next time you're faced with a similar task, these work really well... http://www.irwin.com/tools/screw-bol...-expansion-set Much quicker easier than cutting/grinding/chiseling/banging...Every tool box should have 'em
Wife worked at a day care and then stayed home with them until they got older. And public school and public college for the my kids. Only the best.
As an aside. The battery tray is a good solid piece. Everyone says porsche skimped on the 996 but the battery tray is a thick piece of steel. Have replaced/removed battery trays on my Excursion and Pontiac and they are thin cheap things compared to the Porsche's.
