I think it has it's place and if done well, can enhance value. Some make the vehicle look gaudy and cheap. For me, it keeps the glare down from other vehicles behind me and the car cooler in the summer.

Reason: Misspelled word
I purchased mine with tint. It's a medium tint, not too dark. If it weren't tinted, I would have had it done. Tastefully done it can look very nice and also keep the car cooler. That is important down here in the South!
I like tinted windows but not to dark.It follows the lines of the car especially dark colored cars. Every car I bought I tinted the windows and it always was a plus for resale.I find it esthetecally pleasing
Once you have it you will wonder how you lived without it. The heat reduction is dramatic. Plus it saves your leather and skin from UV rays. 40% ceramic is tasteful and functional.
My 996 isn't my daily and as I matter of fact I actually removed the tint.
My dailys however are all tinted.
At the end of the day this is a personal preference question
And as far as resale
Only con I see if it's the front windows(illegal in some states) and if they were too dark which could be an inconvenience and a nuisance for some buyers or if the tint was old and fading and bubbled
I have tinted the windows on my cars in the past.....but on the 996 and 951 I really like them non-tinted.....just a preference. If I lived in the South, they would definitely be tinted.
Here in the northwest tint is not needed, and cars with tinted windows are rare and seem more likely to be modified wanna-be type cars.
I know that's a sweeping generalization and is not always true. But it does seem to be a mod that is done more for attention than practicality in the NW.
However I imagine it is different in southern states and maybe Calif too.
Tinting your windows in a location where it is common may not negatively affect the resale value much, but I can see it being detrimental where I live.
I personally would steer away from a car with tinted windows. YMMV.
Here in the desert southwest we tint everything but not to look cool. When it's 115+ outside, that sun will make a dark shirt feel like it is about to burst into flames. Dark leather left in the sun will scorch any bare skin.
I am waiting for my windshield to take the inevitable rock so I can get a new tinted windshield, hopefully before summer hits full tilt. My Subies all had very light tint for the added uv protection. My buddy runs a tint shop and has numerous law enforcement officers getting their personal vehicles windshields tinted. That's why I did mine. Hasn't been an issue in 10+ years.
Since I see you are from Denver where it just snowed, I can see how you might reasonably question having tinted windows. My reality in Florida is tinted windows. Since my car is a DD and often sits all day in the sun, there is no question the tint cuts the heat and UV. On every car I've owned I've tinted the windows. It really saves a lot on the interior. Paid professionals for installation and never had problems with lift or bubbling. I cannot see how it would ever devalue the car, and in most cases, at least here, it is a premium on the car. Almost considered necessary.
I had my S5 for 2 years before I decided to get the windows tinted. I don't know why I didn't do it earlier...soon thereafter I had to get my '01 tinted because I had gotten a flat white paint job and it definitely complimented it well.
Since it isn't a daily, I think you should go for it. You don't have to go crazy like 5%...I personally went for 50% on both cars. Looks sharp, and depending on where you live the cops should leave you alone.
My windows are tinted for those 115 degree days and glare on I-15 in So Cal. On my other car I also added Llumar clear tint to the front windshield to cut down heat/UV. You could use it on the other windows as well to provide some heat and UV reduction w/o darkening the windows.
Utah State Patrol pulled me over for my tint and issued a warning. So, if I get tagged again -- may need to remove even though I was just passing through. CHP have given me no problems even though it is not permissible to have front windows tinted. I think they know its too damn hot out here in the summer.
Also, you want to make sure you have a high quality tint that won't interfere with signals -- such as 3M or Llumar ceramic tint.
I put 50% tint on mine mainly to protect the leather. Compared to modern cars now you can't even tell the difference. Most cars are coming from the factory with a pretty significant tint. On my DD BMW I put a 35% tint and love it. You can still see through the 35% tint.
