My windows are tinted for those 115 degree days and glare on I-15 in So Cal. On my other car I also added Llumar clear tint to the front windshield to cut down heat/UV. You could use it on the other windows as well to provide some heat and UV reduction w/o darkening the windows.
Utah State Patrol pulled me over for my tint and issued a warning. So, if I get tagged again -- may need to remove even though I was just passing through. CHP have given me no problems even though it is not permissible to have front windows tinted. I think they know its too damn hot out here in the summer.
