Seriously, I wish someone here would buy that blue 996tt that's on the New York craigslist site. (see previous page of this thread and the last page of my "The Hunt is Over" thread) I was ready to pull the trigger on it when the red car I bought showed up on ebay. Had the seller been easier to communicate with, I'd have already bought it by the time the red car popped up.
The seller is in Peru on business and his little brother was handling the craigslist ad inquiries. The little brother didn't seem that excited about having to do that and wasn't real good at returning texts and calls. I did finally reach him. I also traded emails with the seller in Peru - don't know if he's back in country yet or not. But, I did a bunch of research on the car and the seller and am convinced it is a nice car and a great deal. Seller is a frequent poster on 6speedonline and the car's color change/build thread is documented there. Seller also owns a Panamera.
Obviously the purists will be turned off by the color change from silver to a BMW blue color as well as the front bumper and interior mods, but damn that car is gorgeous in the pics. And I'm convinced that $31k will buy that car, probably $30k would get it done.
If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll give you a data dump on what I learned about the car and the seller.
2002 996TT, silver over black, 6 speed, 80,000 miles, alumalook gauges, supple leather, asking $32,388 (but previously listed at $29,999 back in July so you could probably get it for that) in Miami on Cargurus.com
By the way, the craigslist ad in New York for the Atlantis Blue 996TT I was looking at is now offline. I suspect someone picked that car up - it was a great deal on a gorgeous car. Would really have liked to have seen someone on here get it and would like to have seen it in person.
That airbrake is going to siphon off 75 HP @ 100mph
Nah, no worries about that. As soon as it auto-deploys at 75mph the velocity of the wind coming over the car is going to take care of that little problem for you real quick.
I'd suggest bringing a towel and fresh underwear and pants for the test drive
