I believe there were 9 previous owners when I bought mine. Sometimes variables align in such a way that one factor such as number of owners isn't too detrimental to the entire picture.

The Carfax "OWNERS" is a bunch of garbage. And is just an "Estimate".

I personally have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought with ZERO miles on it NEW from the dealer. I've owned this car for the past 8 years and when I went to trade it in a month ago, it popped up as a 3-owner car with an accident. It was laughable. I have moved from a few states to state and each time I moved it classified it as a new owner. Also when I refinanced it, classified as a new owner. So overall, do not believe the amount of owners that shows up on a Carfax.

In addition, I had someone bump me from behind with NO DAMAGE. A police officer was called and wrote a ticket to the other driver. No repairs were ever made to the car, no insurance claim etc. and it shows up as an accident on Carfax.

Both of those factors contributed to a lower trade-in offer even though the car is a great 1-owner Zero accident car in reality.
