While I was looking for my 04 996 C4S, which I just paid for yesterday, I came across this guy:
http://expomc.com/listings/2004-pors...rbo-cabriolet/
I would have easily spent the extra $12K for the turbo but honestly, the low miles and questionable odometer thing made me a bit nervous.
Maybe one of you brave souls would be interested.

I have a question, when you guys are ready to negotiable with the seller, do you agree on a price and then go get a PPI and if everything checks out you pay the seller? It would make more sense to me if I get the PPI first and then negotiate on the price base on the PPI.

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen, if I want the car to get a PPI prior to negotiating, wouldn't the seller think I am serious about the car as well? It seems that most sellers are willing to allow a PPI but i wasn't quite sure on the buying process. I've never had to buy a car with a PPI, were mostly new. Seems like buying a Porsche is similar to buying a house with the inspection.

Last Porsche I bought with a ppi we negotiated the price contingent on the PPI. When the PPI was done there were a few minor issues, we adjusted the price accordingly and the deal was done. Don't pay for a ppi unless it's a car you want at a price you want, just like buying a house.

Also keep in mind a good ppi can cost 250-500. If someone does a ppi on a car I am selling, I am not really negotiating much if the car checks out or has standard small issues for a car it’s age... You already paid a substantial amount and spent time to look at the car. Your negotiating position is not great at that point.

You guys just gave me a new perspective on buying a Porsche. Yup just like buying a house! Thank you so much for your advice.
