For everyone who was gushing over $10k being cheap for 99, here is your chance to put your money where your mouth is. There were at least two posters saying that they would buy high mileage 99 for 10k cash just because it was a steal. Play ball.

Heck, if it wasn't halfway across the country I would take it for a PPI, and upon getting a clean bill of health I'd buy that without a second thought.

The 16 year old car with 160k miles will be far from perfect, so PPI will obviously find a list of things "wrong with it"; which makes the PPI pointless in this case.
If the car runs well, engine sounds fine, it goes through gears and clutch isn't slipping you give the man $10k and drive away. In worst case scenario you are out $6k. If you can't risk $6k on this car and need a PPI, I don't believe this is the car for you.
This is the 911 you buy to beat the **** out of, not baby and maintain long term. You can clutch dump it, over rev it cold, park it in walmart parking lot, drive it off road, drive it in the snow, drive in 2 feet of water and not worry about it breaking. If it breaks, you dump it for $4k and you are out $6k, period. If this car lasts even 8 months of abuse, you got your money's worth out of it and you can keep on beating on it until it quits; when it quits, dump it for $4k.

2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Cobalt Blue Manual BLOWN ENGINE - $14900 (Bonita, CA)
2002 porsche 911 carrera 2 coupe odometer: 80000 paint color : blue type : coupe drive : rwd fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean cylinders : 6 cylinders
condition: fair
safety tips
prohibited items
product recalls
avoiding scams
This listing is for a 2002 Porsche 911 with a blown engine due to an IMS failure (very common in Porsches from 1999-2008). It also needs a repaint and it has a couple of dings on the drivers side (some tile fell on the car, long story). The windshield is cracked and needs replacement as well. The transmission is perfect and this car was always reliable and ran great until the sudden IMS failure. This car can be fixed with under $10,000 and you'll have a Porsche with a brand new engine and paint job and many factory options plus upgrades. There exists an IMS retrofit from LN Engineering that'll make the car bulletproof. If you are mechanically inclined, this is a great project car. It's also a great opportunity if you're looking to build a track car.
Here are the details:
2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe
Cobalt Blue Metallic paint (rare and expensive option)
Grey interior
Memory driver seat
Manual six-speed transmission
Bose sound system
6-disc cd changer
Evolution Motorsports high flow air intake and filter ($595 +tax)
Ruger R10 19" wheels ($2,000 +tax)
Fabspeed Motorsports Maxflo Exhaust System ($2,100 +tax)
OEM side skirts from the MKI aerokit ($1,840 +tax +paint and installation)
OEM center caps with full color Porsche emblem ($200 +tax)
OEM Euro clear side markers ($120 +tax)
I also had the center console painted in exterior color, calipers painted red with white Porsche logo, and more (overall this car has over $10,000 in tasteful mods)
That's maybe a $4,000 roller.

That is 6ta1 from this board selling his 40th Nr. 0251. If you search his posts you'll find that he did an extensive thread on all the work done to that car. Lots of history for anyone interested in it.
