No wave in the San Diego area. But, Porsches are a dime a dozen here.

Wel lt this is funny, On the way home from work I got waved by a cute girl in a Cayman, we ended up at the same gym parking lot, she parked next to me and said "Nice 911" so there is still hope for people to acknowledge each other in Pcars.... lol

Extend your arm palm facing the target of the wave, fingers outstretched but not splayed. Smoothly move your hand at the wrist 23 degrees counterclockwise, then back to where it started. Without stopping, continue clockwise an additional 19 degrees - but no further! - and then back to start position. Repeat 3-4 times as necessary.

I get wave back usually from older Porsches even when I am in my lowly Boxster. The newer car drivers don't seem to care. Riding the m-cycle, I get a very few waves back in CO, but when I lived in MN, every m-cycle rider waved. I didn't have a Porsche back then...

Thanks. I shall move a mirror into the garage and practice. I'm concerned that if I do it wrong, I might risk IMSB failure!

Damn it! No wonder I get so few responses. I was only doing 17 degrees on the backswing...

I had a guy pull up a couple nights ago along side me...straight away for 1 mile an no other cars. He was in a brand new ish Viper. Gorgeous car. My son who is 9 was drueling and so was I. He blipped the throttle and i giggled...no way i am chasing this guy.

He rolls down his window and gives me a huge thumbs up and tells my boy to take care of that beautiful Porsche! My son was in heaven cause the guy in the cool car said ours was cool. I have never in all my years of Pcar ownership had another Pcar owner do anything like that. Hell one of them told me he liked my carmen ghia...which just happened to be my 356 Speedster! I dont think half of them know what they have! I am the thumbs up guy here in Jax. Anything cool...thumbs up from me...

For the 991 driver the wave is a "jerk off" motion

Td my buddy works the parts counter at the fields ertel porsche named Todd. I'm actually about to move to the coast. Hoping to meet some new gear heads through PCA meetings. I actually get stopped quit a bit but, that's bc all of my porsches are heavily modified. The most common question is who built it or comment how much the love it. I can also same I'm a thumbs up kind of guy for anyone with great taste in a automobile. Now if you have a porsche or whatever it be done up tacky I will ignore you Bc it makes my heart hurt for that piece of machinery.

Around town, in stop-and-go traffic, or on urban commuter highways, I never wave or flash on my motos or 911 or get any waves or flashes. Too many cars, too many tools.

On a twisty mountain or back roads it's a different story.

Porsches are still pretty rare in traffic where I live. If it is daylight, I usually do a quick flash of my lights instead of waving. Response is maybe 50 - 60 percent. Almost all older Porsches will respond. Very few with newer models will even look. Never had a Cayenne respond.
