Default New generation of Porsche snobs

Gang

I have been making sure my observations in the Denver metro area are right. The Porsche owners around here are snobs.

As many of you know I have had PCars for a long time. It use to be that MOST of the time you would flash your lights or wave at other PCar owners.

Not now. Over the past 6 months I have seen a huge drop off that I noticed of the PCar camaraderie. In the past few weeks alone I have noticed even driving next to a PCar they ignore me (Maybe it is because my car is green and blends in). Granted they are all 997+ peeps. I do see more PCars on the road than in years past.

Just kinda sad as it use to be like "Hey another Pcar!"

How are things in your area??

Check your high beam controls

Or maybe they think your warning them to slow down, police ahead

VW Beetles used to be that way, Motorcycles too. Not so much now, at least around here.

I have to say with the similar looks I almost waved at a Boxster the other day, totally mortified.

I am a long time Jeep Wrangler owner and get a wave from most other Jeeps. I expected to get the same in my 84 Carrera and the 996 and haven't had one other 911 wave at me in my almost two years owning 911s.

If they're driving a Cayenne I don't expect anything. A Boxster or 911 and there's usually something although the 997+ crowd seem to think they're above the rest of us.

No wave back from anyone in 997+ crowd in the Boston area either. As others have commented, I don't look for nor expect any greetings from soccer moms in Cayennes.

I get the most responses from Boxter drivers (if it has the shield I'll wave at the driver). Then its 944/928, followed by 911s, Cayennes, and Pannies and Cayman bring up the rear.

I get more responses in the 996 than the 958, but I did get a positive response from a 991 in the P!g once.

At least in my area Porsches are too common and is more of a status symbol than something that they love. It also seems that PCA membership is way down compared to the number of owners.

I also think its just been lost. I have a neighbor with a Boxter (987) that had a wet floor. She couldn't understand why me and another guy (986 & 955) a few blocks away loaned her equipment/time/knowledge to get it taken care of. She had no idea that Porsche people are just supposed to help other Porsche people.

I've noticed a big falloff of the flash or wave too in CT. I don't bother with Cayennes either and the rest seem 50/50. I used to get a wave from almost everyone.

In the south (Atlanta) I find it still hit and miss. I seem to get more interaction with 911 Turbos than any other models.

Same here in Cincinnati. But I can say when I get waived to it ranges from what pcar they're in. Wether it be a 60s 996 997 well I have yet to be waived to from a 991 lol btw on top of that I live a block away from Porsche.

Same here in NYC. Not much going on as far as events. I even give people in Porsche's a thumbs up and I have got the bird back a couple times- really? I hang out with mostly people I meet at my local shop since they have events here and there. But no one is really into it like I am.

That made me laugh. Sums up the NYC stereotype. "You lookin' at me?"

Here in NC is a bit different, Besides my Pcar i also own a Mini CooperS and I do have to say 99% of mini cooper owners give the 2 finger wave I have NOT encounter one that hasn’t wave back ( mini coopers) as far a Pcar well not too many Porsches around my area however I went to a cars and coffee last month and there were several 911's and 944's and we all parked together and had a great time.
