996 Aero

you can find a variety of caps on e-bay
on the parts and accessories section of e-bay motors,
your main subject is "porsche 996"

I too wanted a change from the painted caps and found these
on e-bay. yes I know that I do not have a GT-3 (not yet anyway)
but with the aero kit and other mods I did not feel too bad about
getting them. So far I don't think I have offended anybody. If you are doing
concours, then maybe you cannot get away with it.
You can get a set for 75-100. Even if you only need one, always good to have some extra around, just in case.

Here is a pic on my sport designs. Hope this helps

You could also try the center caps that don't spin with the wheels, they just stay upward at all times.

Don,

Can you post a picture of your "3 dimensional" looking caps when you get them? Also, are your wheel lug nuts chromed or polished? where did you purchase the lug nuts?

Jeff

Hi Jeff: I don't have the new center caps yet, but I will post a pic as soon as I do. Regarding chrome... since my car is an 02, they are the stock 30mm wheel bolts that were chromed on an exchange program with www.wheelenhancement.com. Cost about $200.

Don or anyone else: I have been unable to find chome lug bolts that "look" OEM like Don's pictured above. I've sent www.wheelenhancement.com numerous e-mails over the past month with no response. Are they still in business or is business so good off the street that e-commerce business to them takes second seat? Are there any other retailers carrying OEM style chromed bolts?

Thanks..Michael

One of mine fell off. Pfaff replaced under warranty, no questions. There have been issues with these staying glued on

My sons an I were washing the 996 today, while hosing down the wheel we all hear a "cling" sound. It was one of the Porsche crests blown off the centercap by the water stream. What a joke, these things cost a lot of money and can't take a water hose ??. I think I'm going back to the plain old black centers jeez.

Hi Don, I have the 3D caps your talking about.
The crest is embossed into the aluminium and is not stuck on the surface.
They are also slightly concave. That is, they are not flush and seem to protrude inwards. When my wife comes back from Spain with the digicam I will take a close up pic.

Cheers,
Berny
