Default A IMS replacement issue question

My buddy was trying to do his ims change with a vertex auto ims bearing upgrade. He used the supplied tool to tap the bearing in and it went inside the casing.

The only way I can see resolving this issue is by splitting the case but, I wanted to ask everyone here if they had any other suggestions or this has happened to anyone else and what was done.

Thanks for any help I can relay to him

There's the issue.

1. If you don't have crank and cams locked, I probably would think long and hard about proceeding. Maybe others in this situation can offer better advice. I locked cams and crank then removed all three tensioners when I did mine.
2. Remove at least two accessible tensioners. Right and left side when looking at IMS. 32mm socket. Third is below the AC compressor. Takes either 32mm or Large Allen key.

I'd probably try to cook up something to extract it (if this was my car), but it would probably involve wrecking the bearing. This is one of those points where things either get better quickly or they get much worse quickly...it would pay to get some help before things go further south

He wants 12k
2001 porsche 996 911

I started a project with an 01 911 to rebuild. The motor ran fine, and was doing general maintennance. I was inserting the eternal bearing, tapped the bearing too far and now the intermediate shaft is sideways in the housing. I started school and have no time for the car. I would like to sell the car and parts as a whole. I have a lot of new patrs listed below. the car has 130,000 miles on it.

The motor is currently pulled and will need a truck to move the motor/car.

01 porsche white on beige interior
20 inch Black autocotoure rims with brand new tires all the way around
ps9 suspension with droplinks
brand new in bag Aasco light weight fly wheel
band new in bag spec stage 1 clutch
Brand new fuel pump
Brand new waterpump
replaced plugs and tunnels
Brand new in box water hoses
Brand new serpentine Belt
K&N air intake
Eibach springs and stock struts
After market exhaust
Extra interior parts from when I was starting to convert to a black interior
Brand new pads all the way around
New bumpsteer kit for the front control arms
New rubber exterior seals
I have lots of odds and ends as well

I have $6,000.00 in parts alone, all brand new. The motor ran great before i inserted the new ims and the crank moved.

I am asking $12,000.00 obo for the whole lot.
