Default cabriolet top question

The roof stopped functioning recently and only the front latch unlatches and then nothing. I am assuming a lack of hydraulic oil at this point.
I want to access the oil reservoir but am having an issue with the clamshell not unlatching on passenger side and center rear latch point.
I have tried to manually open with the tool by turning it counter clockwise but it only rotates the opening screw less than a turn then encountering enough resistance that I am afraid of snapping the bolt if I force it more.
I feel the only way around it is to remove the spring loaded rollbar assemblies to get access to the gear and cable assembly that locks unlocks the clamshell. Have any of you ever removed these rollbars and do they need to be handled with extreme caution to not trigger them to release?

Or is there another way to open the clamshell latches that I can't figure out?

thanks
Pete

Not sure about the roll bars. I think that it may be tough to get at that clamshell cable assembly even if they were removed. If the top is up, you may have better luck just reaching over the rear seats. You can get to the sliders at the end of the cable drive assembly that way, and also 2 of the 3 latches are easily disconnected this way.

If the clamshell is not opening, your issue may not be hydraulic. The source of your problem might be the cable assembly only.

Also, be aware that if you have begun to manually operate the top, re-calibration of the top system may be required at a Dealer or Indy after your mechanical problems are resolved.
