oh and hello,i have been lurking in the back ground for a while, aswell as trying to buy a house and go through a divorce!!
never a quiet moment. so my first question is:
only half my clam shell raises with the button,it seams to have snapped a cable on the drivers side, are these replaceable and if so,where?? thanks.

Welcome to Rennlist. I'd love to help, but I don't understand your problem. Perhaps a picture would help?
The clamshell is operated by a single motor that operates the latches that hold down the clamshell when closed AND operates the the motion of the clamshell via two cables and sliders.
The cables, sliders, and gear mechanism that move the clamshell are all one assembly if you buy it new.
Just for clarity, the "clamshell" is the movable rear cover that hides the majority of the convertible top when the top is down.
Give some more details, and we may be able to point you in the right direction.

The part you need is an assembly, shown as part #4 below.
The part number for the drive assembly is 996.561.012.03, and lists for $778, retails for $563 from Sunset, but I found it used for $325. (those prices are from 2012)
You can read the long story about my repair here.
I still have my broken assembly. The bowden cable on the passenger side is still good. I'm not sure if the passenger and drivers side cable are the same length. You'd have to check. There is probably some flexibility in length, if needed, since the cable bends 90° anyway. If you are savvy enough to take the assembly apart (not simple), I'd be willing to part with the cable for cheap.

the bike type cable as pictured above had snapped on the drivers side,so i had to go to a breakers yard and buy a new one, they wouldnt sell me just the one cable i needed,i had to buy it all,£200 all in,which was much nicer on the pocket than the main dealers price of £525... so all is good..
