Default C4s rear spoiler ?

Hi please can someone help a newbie ?
I'm going on Monday to get my first 996 a c4s.
The sales man says the the rear spoiler come up at speed as it
should but I asked if you can manually rise the spoiler, he said that there is a switch in the foot well that was introduced on th 2005 model but it's not on a 2003 .
Now is this correct I thought it was standard on all the c4s from day one.
And help much appreciated.

It's there, he hasn't got a clue.

Most sales people would only have detailed information on the goods that will give them the most commission. A 996 is to far down the line for him to learn about unless he's a 911 geek like the most of us here.

I feel like I should know this, but is it safe to operate this manually while driving?

It's not safe for your fellow drivers while you lean forward and fumble around by the fuse box trying to find the switch!

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be safe to operate while driving provided you're paying attention to the road in front of you and not distracted by trying to find the button or something. FWIW, I've got it in my '04 as well. As others have pointed out it was standard in all of the 996es. The sales guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

P.S. Edit: What Dennis said...lol

Cops like it too as it is a clear indication you are not going 55.

It's a non descript toggle switch on the fuse box panel that blends in. Side note, one push to raise and push and hold to lower.

Welcome GPA 27, please post up when you get your car. It's probably a good idea to start with the " "Things you didn't know about your 996" thread. A lot of great info about your car.

Now about that rear spoiler. It's best to raise it ( hit the button ) when you're in traffic beside a school bus full of kids. I think you will enjoy the experience, lol

Good luck with your car and we're waiting for details.

Its there in the foot well in the 2003 but don't even think about trying to operate while you're driving!

Quick Reply: C4s rear spoiler ?
