C4s rear spoiler ?

1) It's a rocker switch, not a toggle.
2) No cop ever cared whether or not the spoiler was up on my 986. The assumption that all law enforcement officers know the speeds at which every spoiler on every car deploys is a flawed one.
3) Unless your arms are four feet long, operating the switch while driving is a bad idea. However, you can extend the spoiler at a stop, and unless you EXCEED the deployment speed and then slow down, it will stay up.
4) If you REALLY like the spoiler extended, use the switch to deploy it and then pull the fuse. Up it will stay. I used to do this with my Boxster @ autocross.

Lol you guys are too funny. I’ll keep that advice in mind next time I need to change the radio station, adjust my wipers, move the mirror, and I’ll sure as heck pull over the next time I need to sneeze!
I meant safe from a technical perspective, like would it be bad on the spoiler. Sounds like that is a no. Thanks!!!

I see In a reflection in the sun that there is a dash light that shows the spoiler, is it supposed to light up when the spoiler is up or down? I can never see if it's all the way up or all the way down unless I get out of the car. Especially if I lower it manually I never know how long to hold the button? Does the light let you know like the convertible roof light?

That's incorrect. While it may not be used for the sole purpose of issuing a citation, it can be used in conjunction with other indicators of speed. And police do know quite a bit about performance cars.

Well, considering you can have it up when you are not moving via the footwell switch, it doesn't say anything about your speed. The light should come on when the car is started and remain on until you drive for a few seconds. Not sure why it does that, but it must be doing do some sort of diagnostic.

I used to have it up all the time with my previous 996. I had mastered pushing the button with my toe. I would do it every time after getting off the freeway as it would definetly be down as soon as you exit.

Hi please can someone help a newbie ?
I'm going on Monday to get my first 996 a c4s.
The sales man says the the rear spoiler come up at speed as it
should but I asked if you can manually rise the spoiler, he said that there is a switch in the foot well that was introduced on th 2005 model but it's not on a 2003 .
Now is this correct I thought it was standard on all the c4s from day one.
And help much appreciated.
