Default Best muffler replacement?

I've got a 996 (2001) C2. I'd like to have a more "vocal" throaty exhaust note but do not want an interior drone under normal driving conditions. Any recommendations for a replacement system?

Just swap the cans with Fister D's. Truast me you will love it! No drone, pure music and VERY reasonably priced mod. GL. If you don't like it, you can always "upgrade" to another exhaust at a later date.

Fister Ds would be a great choice unless you are also after some weight savings.

If you want to replace the mufflers, the Fabspeed mufflers sound awesome and are one of the most affordable options.

So, for those who have heard both the Fister D mod and aftermarket exhaust such as Fabspeed, Tubi, etc., how would you rank or compare the Fister D as far as sound development? I am getting the understanding reading the comments on the forums that Fister D is a good step better than the stock, but perhaps not as radical as aftermarket exhaust. Fair statement or is there more to it?

Spokayman:
I would say your statement is pretty spot on.

again where talking about upgrading your current mufflers with the fister d option so i guess it depends on the condition of the mufflers now, for 300$ you can try that. Maybe a good place to start, because its going to cost alot more for some of the other options(Tubi,Cargraphic,Fabspeed),but were talking about high grade stainless steel construction, weight savings, and a brand new pair. Its a slippery slope, why not save a little at a time and swap out the cat conv, also to a 200 cell stainless version, that combo will really blow your mind, and poss add some performance. it comes down to a budget, and what you can afford, and for that reason the fister d upgrade seems popular here on the renn.
