Latch cover for hardtop
Am looking for the cover for the front latch on a removable hardtop. I refuse to pay over 80 for this stupid piece of plastic. Anyone have one left from their old hardtop? I would be happy to buy from you. How about the wrench? These never seem to come with used hardtops.
I know itis a stupid piece but I like things complete.
Thanks

I know this has nothing to do with your question but if I could get my hardtop into my attic I would. I remember thinking how cool it was when I bought the car and the sticker shock when I saw the prices for a stupid hoist. I built one with $20 worth of rope, pulleys and carabiners from Home Depot so I could effortlessly lower it onto the car. I think it went on once during an unusually hot and dry August. Only keeping it because they bring about $100 on CL (even though they always start at $1000!). I'm hoping if I ever sell the car it will be a nice feature to the next chump.

I just bought my second hardtop for 300. Obviously neither car had one when I bought it. They are nice for the winter in pay for those occasional days I get it out. I use a cart for the off season. They were included with the top, factory cover too. I cannot imagine paying 1000 that many ask. They just don,t seem to have the cover for the front latch or the too. Hence my post, they must be somewhere.

I'm curious as well since mine is missing it too. It looks so incomplete and unfinished without it.
I bought mine thinking I would only use it at the track but since it's cold now I just keep it on since the car is more secure and quiet with the top on it.

After searching the classifieds/ebay/junk yards for a while, I caved in and bought the "missing" pieces from Suncoast: latch cover, covers for rear mounting tabs (part #7 & #8 in diagram below) and trim over mounting hole (PART# 996 563 421 01 ). I use a generic allen head wrench instead of buying a Porsche-branded one.
To the OP: guessing you already checked compatibility of top you're buying vs. mounts currently in car. Rear defroster on top you're buying works, right?
P.S. I have a spare hardtop stand and cloth cover (both by Porsche) in case you're looking to buy

Well the bayonet doesn’t fit screw threads. I’m new to the top. Good laugh on me.
bought the screw receivers, put them in, works like it should, repainted top seal gray. All’s good. Just need a gently used front latch cover and I’m good.

Watching. I’m missing the stupid latch cover too, and also don’t want to pay $80 for it. DC Automotive did not have any either.
Personally I like the hardtop - really makes the car like a coupe with the top on, and more headroom too. Just have to keep the seals well coated with Gummi Pflege to minimize the squeaks.
