Default 996 C2 camber failure

Hi,

I have a problem that i cant have enough positive camber in drivers side (front).

max positive is - 2.5 deg ! I just bought the car so dunno what could be the problem.. there is no other adjustment than at the top ? In my 993 that is a bit different structure...

So what are possibilities, bend spindle, worn out bushings or wtf ?

Wait a minute. The alignment specs (roughly) call out 0 degs camber with the tolerance +/- 15 minutes and a difference of 20 minutes.

(Some models call out a bit of negative camber: For instance the GT2 is -1 deg +/- 5 minutes.)

How much positive camber -- remember positive camber has the tops of the wheels/tires further apart then the bottoms -- do you want?

I think you are trying to get more negative camber which is generally the way drivers who want to deviate from the factory settings go.

If you want more negative camber at the front you'll likely not get it as the front suspension does not provide much camber adjustment. You'll need to explore aftermarket suspension hardware that allow for more negative camber along with some adjustment of caster too.

I'm assuming the car is lowered?

What do you want it to go too? Attached are alignment specs for the 996. I guess you could elongate the 3 slotted holes (on top of the strut tower) that the threaded studs come out of in the frunk.

Car has GT3 alignment, and its not that low .. it has a H&R adjustable suspension kit. I dont wanto get more neg camber, like some one tought, this is MAX positive ( - 2.5 ) if i want, i can get - 4 deg. neg camber atm. Maybe hub carrier has bend or ? But how to check it .. passenger side is works fine.

Do you by chance have adjustable gt3 control arms? If so, did you get any extra shims with it?

Regarding accident, maybe have a good body shop inspect it and also run a carfax to see if there are any records.

Pics of your suspension?

Ill take pics of suspension tomorrow, and control arms are original C2 ..

I ordered today adjustable camber plates (Bigem) so that should do the trick but still need to find out the main fault.

First things first, take it to a body shop and have them put it in the frame rack and see what they say. It may be bent. Mine was the same way AFTER HITTING A DOG! 230$ later it was good to go.

This looks like a good idea. Saves the tread wear.

I dunno.... -2.5 degree front camber would actually be pretty damned good for the track! It's extremely frustrating that Porsche doesn't allow more than about -0.5 to -.75 or so degrees of front camber adjustment without replacing parts; Porsche really should have let that adjustability go up to at least 2 degrees. Gotta force the marque structure and only let GT3 go fast, I guess.

I agree, but this car is a daily driver, i have 993 RSR rep. for track .. so too much camber in this case is not good .
