Engine Support Brace, Cheap!

you really don't need this to do a clutch.
a) if you want to support your engine while the transmission is out your jack will do it just fine - you can put a 2x4 under the jack if you are worried it's going to go down
b) even without a jack the engine will not fall down, it will rest on the suspension cross bar as long as the rear engine mounts are still connected (wouldn't recommend leaving it too long like this though, it's a bit too much angle)
The real use for this bar is if you plan to move the car while the transmission is out or if you plan on leaving the transmission out for a while, otherwise it's absolutely not necessary, especially if you're just doing a clutch/IMS/AOS job.
Also lining up the transmission when you put it back will be much easier if you can play with the engine height, which you can do with a jack but not with the support bar we discuss here

I actually blew one of my OEM motor mounts like this before switching to semi-solid motor mounts.
this is why I was saying not to leave it like this any amount of time.
but you will want that "extreme" angle to get to the couple top bolts of the transmission on the passenger side, makes it a lot easier (a lot easier meaning it goes from dead impossible to a real pain to reach with long extensions)

I have a mid-rise lift so this should make the job easier. Also see this thread. The bar allows you to tilt the engine to line it up with the trans

^^^^^I can top that!!!! Made something similar for the 928. Left over 4x4 that came with the house and a small hydraulic jack to lift the engine AND a ratcheting strap. Total cost.....$0.00
