Default Good Tranny Repair Shop in Charlotte Area?

My 2nd gear synchro is starting to act up on my 2003 4S so I'm looking for a good Porsche tranny repair shop around the Charlotte, NC / Rock Hill, SC area. My car is modified with a 3.8L cup engine, so I want someone that is not afraid of working on a modified car.

That seems to be fairly common. Have you ensured there is fresh proper trans fluid? How many miles. Theres a good video that shows the teardown about the syncro problem. Doesnt seem that hard to replace if your capable. If your driving a cup car I assume you are. I will try and find the link to it if you want it.

Very specialized work if you want an excellent repair done.
I would use Gbox, a little distant from you but you can ship it.
Gbox repaired mine and is well known to this site.
They work on Cup car transmission rebuilds and regearing regularly.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am interested in the video if you can find it. I have contacted GBox and they are going to send me a quote.

If this is a street 996 you will not be able to remove/replace the synchronizers without some specialized tooling and a 80 Ton press, as these gears are interference fit.

Thank you for the kind words, we appreciate it.

Sorry then, my mistake. I was told a 50 ton would do it, which is a much more common press (my brother has a truck company). 80 ton is beyond my use.

Heres one of Motormeister's videos just to see what the trans internals are. Im not endorsing them, its just for info:
