Default Option Codes

Hey guys.......been searching on this site but can't find a definitive answer to this question............

Are the option codes on the sticker the actual options that should be on the car........OR........are they simply a list of possible options that could have been on the car?

I ask this because I decided to check the sticker on my car against the list of codes contained in the Bentley book........I have a 6 spd C4 but one of the option codes is for the tiptronic stuff, and another code on my sticker lists heated seats, which I also don't have!!

I've asked the dealership to send me over a copy of the build sheet so that might provide the definitive answer I'm looking for and I've no real reason for suspecting my car has been fooled with, until now!

However, it does beg the question.......why put codes on the car's sticker for stuff that isn't on the bloody car!!??

Best Regards

Les.

for my car (02 996, tip, cab): every single option listed in the sticker actually exists .

Possible one of the previous owners "changed" the sticker? Or modded the car? Or a "TYPO" in the sticker itself.

Sticker should be under the front lid. If the sticker is missing and you have the original owners manual, there should be a duplicate sticker with the warranty book.

Or - if someone can run the VIN for you it will list all of the codes and descriptions.

Or - if you have a P-Car dealer they can run the VIN and provide you with the build sheet and the original invoice

I assume we are talking about the option codes sticker located underneath the front hood. These should be the actual options installed on the car at the factory. Of course, it's possible that someone removed your heated seats and sold them on e-bay.
Maybe the options listed in the Bentley book are incorrect? Just a possibility.

Here are some option code lists:

If the trunk lid was listed as an option you might find that was changed

Possibly a wreck or somebody tore through some plastic road markers collapsing the hood making another cars hood the best option.

OR your car is one of the made in china knock offs uh well I don't think so but the changed lid seems to be the answer I'd believe.

My sticker(under the frunk) listed my car's options and is correct. There are ways to enter your Vin as suggested to get your option build. If yours doesn't match, I'd also suggest a PO might have changed some things.

My first thought was that it was a different hood, but, the sticker has the correct VIN# on it so I guess I have to assume it's the correct sticker for the car!?

I got the build sheet from the dealer and there's even less information on that than there is on the hood sticker.

Also, I feel the Bentley list is incomplete seeing as at least one of my options on the build sheet isn't even listed in Bentley. Also, some of the Bentley codes are duplicated....as in three numbers, all the same, meaning different things!

I think I need to go over to the dealer and talk through it with them.......need to get to the bottom of it!

List your option codes, we can tell you what your options are and what should be on your car. A picture would be even better.

Sounds like your car has been modified since it left the factory, or your not reading the codes right. The build sheet should list even more information. Suncoast Porsche will give you all information on your VIN# for $10.

I'm meeting with the dealer guys tomorrow. Will let y'all know what they say. What does seem to be clear is that there are codes on the sticker that definitely were NOT on the car.......example......tiptronic. This was never on the car yet the VIN on the sticker is correct.

As I say, we'll see what tomorrow brings!
