Default Thoughts on LN .5 & 2 qt oil sump kits

Just wanting to hear thoughts on which one to choose as they seem to almost do the same thing (besides the oil capacity) with a large price difference.

Not worth it.

If you're concerned about oil starvation, use a heavier weight oil and install an X51 style baffle. That was my solution for ticking lifters following autocross runs. If you're concerned with oil contamination and breakdown, the 0.5qt won't make much difference - just change your oil more frequently.

That said, if you're adamant about it, the 2qt kit is not streetable - the pan will sit way too low. You're more likely to rip the oil pan off the crankcase before seeing any benefits of the additional 2qts of oil.

I have the .5qt pan, doesn't help much on the track. Just had the 2qt pan installed. The design inside is different from the .5qt. I'll be on the track this mon if the weather is good. I'll let you know how it works out. It does sit kinda low, maybe an inch inch and a half lower. I'll have a skid plate put on.

Did you make the track day for some impressions?

im thinking of the LN 0.5 spacer as well. My car is lowered thats why im staying away from the 2 quart sump. Did you see any significant pressure drops on track using the 0.5 qt spacer? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

From the data I have collected, the 2QT deep sump and baffle does not prevent significant oil pressure drops on my setup.

I don't have experience with the .5QT but have no reason to believe it would do any better.

The data to backup my statement about the efficacy of the 2QT deep sump can be found in the thread below. BTW - this is an old thread man...

hmmmm...2021-2012=? I once had a conversation with someone about something 9 years ago....we picked up right where we left off just like no time had passed between us. It was strange.

If you are going to track you car, get the 2Q deep sump. You need the extra oil for the track. Read Zbombs Oil Pressure Stability thread to get more insight on other modifications that are in the works such as more oil and water cooling from LN as well as the UIDS from Porschetech3.

My car is lowered as well. Just get yourself the protective skid plate. You just gotta be careful what you go over.

Also make sure you upgrade your AOS to the UAOS from Porschetech 3 or you will have oil consumption and smoking problems which could lead to bigger issues. This is important.
