Yeah I was planning to come down to FL for work on Monday but I'm not interested in getting stuck at the airport.

Always funny how people worry about earthquakes out here in Cali which almost never happen but you guys have hurricanes all the time. I hope it's not bad.

....most are media events.

In South Florida TS means Thunderstorm.

Although this one cost me a drive to, and a gig in, Key Largo.......miles and miles of sweeping interstate, fly overs, and sparse traffic, and a chance to improve on my personal best.....Boca to Key Largo in 50 minutes. A good drive runied.

Hey, I went to Miami Beach this afternoon, it was grey and blowing, but it didn't dampen peoples enthusiasm. The beach will party until the Causeway is closed. Actually, traffic was really easy, although I didn't push it because it was wet and windy.

Minor earthquakes happen all the time, but are rarely worth much mention on the news because by the time we know there was an earthquake, we know they were minor.

Hurricanes give the 24/7 news cycle a week to churn up the hype. Even when they turn out to be nothing in the end, people still tune in. The nice thing about really powerful hurricane that you don't get with really powerful quakes, though, is warning- we can evacuate if there's a cat 4 or 5 coming. How much warning would you get from a high 6 or 7 MMS quake?
