Welcome to Rennlist, and congrats on the car (albeit temporary.)
Keep the shiny side up, please!

I have already modified the PSE cutoff relay and I think that is the extent of my modifications. I just wanted to say hello. On a random note, I went to Niello Porsche in Rockline California to pick up a few parts and noticed a nice 2002 C2 cab with Aerokit outside. The car had a price of $49,995 with 26,000 miles. The only differences between "My" car and that one was 1)mine is a coupe 2) that one has the aerokit 3) that one was a tiptronic. That price seems excessive.
1) So you're parents gave you their Porsche to learn how to drive a standard transmission properly?

2)If I were you, I wouldn't be modifying my parents low mileage Pcar AT ALL without getting prior approval.

3) Who in their right mind is going to pay $50k for a 10 year old pervertible 996 with an "Aerokit" especially with an automatic transmission? That dealer is out of their mind.

You Porsche people crack me up.

No, no, no emphasis on you just as it reads

For example: people saying helper springs induce wheel hop, people that stack helper springs in the rear when only one is needed, Accusump awareness month (I've never seen so much talk about such a $****y product), etc, etc. Really makes me laugh a lot of this.

I find it particularly funny that people can buy a Porsche, and have absolutely no common sense regarding the mechanics, mods, usage, treatment, ....

I think we are being had. If his parents don't drive, why would they own a Porsche? Just to loan to Jr. who can't drive a stick? Doesn't make aaaaany sense.

Unfortunately you are correct. I notice it on Fchat as well. The highest level of stupidity is to be found on the BMW forums. I try to stay off of those, except for the occasional pic of one of my racers. Those people need to be put in their place between posts of extreme fail

You Porsche people crack me up. :]

You know us Porsche people have SO much money we can just let our kids drive whatever they like. Thinking about a new 600SL for my 20 year old. After all, it's just a Benz.

Just to clear it up. I meant to say "My parents dont drive it". My parents do drive its just that they prefer cars that can haul more stuff in greater comfort. I do know how to drive a stick, I just have not driven one in about three months since I have been in college. I need to practice more so that I dont have any problems at skip barber. My parents have owned the car for the past 8 years and the car just sits in the driveway now and it does not move. Since the end of spring break april 1 until I got home june 15th, the car was only driven 70 miles. That is why I took it, so I can practice more and to put some miles on the car. The dealer was confused when I showed him I had lower miles than that car.
Here are some pictures for the nonbelievers.

Nice looking car. It's a shame your parents don't drive it more.

welcome kartboy. Car looks sharp. get a good wash and wax and your other mechanical lesson would be to inquire when was the last oil change and brake fluid flush.

What condition are the tires in? is the car tracking straight or is there any uneven tire wear? check the under carriage for any leaks or loose items.

Your 'rents 996 is begging to be driven, but in order to get the best feel of what it is to drive a 996 is to have it running in top shape. If everything checks out, you are in a lucky spot this

summer. Show some responsibility taking care of it and you just may own a nice Pcar one day.
