Default Hankook V12 or Sumi HTRIII?

I just got my first p-car this week and it needs a new set of tires. Going to use for spirited street driving and will be using same tires/wheels for track / DE days.

Looking right now at Hankook V12 or Sumi HTRIII, what have your experiences been like?

I have V12s on my car and I'm very happy with them. Great tire for the price point.

Lot's of threads on this. Do a search.
BTW, I've had the Sumi HTR-ZIII on my car for about 2 years. Very happy with them. Good all-around tire for the money.

v12's here too

Sumi's were a very cost effective bang for buck tire before the v12s came out.

V12s came on my car and now they are the weak point in my handling. These pos tires don't cut it for my liking for gripping the roads.

Never tried the Hankook's but I've gone through three sets of Sumis on my car in the past couple of years. I've had them on for DEs and they seem to be ok. I'm far from a pro but I don't think the tires are what is holding me back from going faster.

Man, you got that right!

Cliffnotes: If wet traction is more important than dry - V12. I prefer Sumitomos for overall performance and ride quality.

Please call me if I can help. Thanks

Call Damon in post #9. He's bang on about the wet driving conditions!

Tire discussions are almost as contentious as oil discussions. I went from PS2s to Hankooks. After 4000 miles I like the Hankooks better for the street.

The wet performance is excellent.

It's all very subjective too. Personally, I'll never buy another set of Hankooks.
