Default IMS Single row V2?

Are we any closer to an update on the current LN engineering bearing? Jake or LN...any news?

We are not currently working on any developments that are centered around an IMS bearing.. The same goes for LN Engineering.

@Jake, I read a forum where you discussed some (3-4) failures with the replacement single row LN design (with zero failures on the dual row). You mentioned the replacement bearing was better than the Porsce bearing...but, was not a perfect solution. The intent here was to find out if any better solution was in the works?? I am needing a IMS bearing soon...

However, of all three revisions of the intermediate shaft used by Porsche, the single row bearing found on some 2000-2001 and all 2002-2005 models is the most flawed and even with our ceramic bearing, we have had five engine failures total where the single row ceramic bearing was found to have failed (although not conclusively as the cause of the engine failure, given there are dozens of known modes of failure and secondly, these are open bearings susceptible to damage from foreign object debris). Even so, we have over a 99.9% success rate in the 3+ years our bearings have been in service.

As such, Flat 6 Innovations and LN Engineering are currently in development and testing the second generation IMS Retrofit™ to provide a solution with a failure mode such that catastrophic engine failure does not occur when an IMS bearing fails, but as with our original solution, this one will be years in the making.

Better yet, purchase an IMS Guardian. We've revised our IMS Upgrade and IMS Retrofit™ bearings to use steel cages rather than polyamide to further assist in detection of IMS bearing failures before they become catastrophic.

Yet Jake says neither F6 nor LN is working on this...

This I@#$ BS just keeps getting better by the minute.

P.S. - Is this why Jake said less Cha-Ching???

To replace now or wait...hmmm...Not really feeling good about either option.

Anything that we'd develop would be applicable to cars that have already been retrofitted.. Waiting isn't something that would be considered "smart". The IMSR is a proven technology that works and has saved many engines.

As I stated, there are no bearing developments currently in the works now. Everything we have is already developed, tested and being utilized in a select few beta test vehicles to gather many miles of data in all sorts of different applications. We are awaiting patent protection and are gathering miles on the technology.

Its already done, but you won't see it until at least 2014 in the marketplace. You might see a release in a widely recognized publication once all patent protection is in place. Thats all we are at liberty to state.

When we installed the final beta test unit we took the only photos of the technology that exist and sent those two two very prominent individuals so they could act as verifiers for the industry when we finally do make the release and further "date" the technology.

Spend $4000 (with tip) now and $4000 in a few years...swell... Speed up the relase date any sooner??? Maybe we could do an extended "winterizing" on our 996's to wait.
