I had one like that on mine and loved the sound above 5k !! I wanted to take it a step FURTHER so I retrofitted the Sound Amplifier Symposer from the 991/GTS to my custom Short Ram CIA with a dual cone K&N filter and clear Lexan heat shield. Oh and installed remote control so I can turn it off and on for two levels ( like the factory sport exhaust). I prefer the intake noise over the exhaust noise.

Orange cap intake mod, air box muffler removed, silicon hose purchased from amazon... Decent noise difference at WOT in higher RPMS... especially when you only have stock mufflers

cost me all of $55.

I have a 2-3 year old EVOMS intake with a dry filter that I took out of my '02 996 when a 17 year old kid pulled out in front of me and totaled the vehicle. I would sell it for $420 + shipping and Paypal fees if you are interested. It makes a great sound and is a true cold air intake to boot.

I just installed this last night. Certainly not as loud as the intake sound from my K&N on my previous car, a 2000 Boxster S. But still a nice improvement. The Boxster S had great sound at WOT, even below 3,000 RPM, whereas the 911 is quiet at WOT below 3,000. It may be different for those having the 3.6 engine though. Mine is a 3.4

On my 997 cab I have the Fisters and an EVOMS intake that I bought here for $300. It's a GREAT sound combination.

My 996 has the cap thing - I don't know if its Fabspeed or what - but the sound isn't even close to the 997. I will be exchanging it for a full CAI system shortly.

I'm wondering if the 997 will fit on the 996 as I return my 9-7 back to stock....
