LF OEM GPS for the 996
Hi Guys,
If anyone has one or knows of one, please let me know. I would like to install a OEM GPS in my C4S. I know, I know, there are better aftermarket units out there, but I want the OEM one for some reason.
Thanks,
Alin

PCM-I Obsolete<<< No Map Updates since 2002 - Fits 1999-2002 996's
PCM-II Almost Obsolete<<< No Map Updates since 2008 - Fits 2003-2005 996's
PCM-II can NOT be fitted into a 1999-2002 due to Lack of "MOST" (Optical Wiring)

I have PCM 2.0 in my 04 C4S - haven't validated the version number of my Nav CD. The last Nav update for PCM II was 2008. I am considering going aftermarket but have not settled on the project. If I replace mine, I will put mine up for sale. Could be months, though. Too many other P-Car priorities :-)

Sucks that they don't have an update for 2008 +. Do you think they will ever have an update?
Does the 996 Turbo's have a better PCM option then PCM-II?

Please let me know when you decide, as I would love to install one in my car as soon as possible. I will be pulling the Bi*ch out tomorrow out of storage and I always look forard to modding it with something new.
I can even swap my oem CD player so you can have a filler if you ever need to sell it....

The 996 turbo has the same PCM options as the other 996 models.
I have PCM 2.0 in my Cayenne, and I have the 2008 map update. It's tolerable, but it's not good. I've upgraded to a Kenwood double-DIN system with Garmin nav in the C4S, and I'll eventually do that in the Cayenne.
It was very, very difficult to get Porsche to update the maps from the 2004 version to the 2008 version for PCM 2.0. There were law suits, and other such ugliness. I don't expect them to ever update the PCM 2.0 maps again.
