Default C4 owners, how does your car launch off redline??

I am curious as to how the car launches whenever you launch at redline with the 6 speed. You know, let go of the clutch with your foot to the floor. Do the tires grab and go? Do you get goofy alternating traction and wheel spin?

Thanks

I didn't P car drivers did such things. Isn't that clutch abuse?

What happens when you do it in your 442?

Lol, who cares about a clutch, its a wear item, if it wears replace it, if it breaks replace it!

In my 500 hp Audi Quattro the front tires still spin pretty good and I get a little torque steer, but its primarily fron engine front wheel drive.

I would like to know how the Porsche reacts...

You will smell burning clutch and the car will go, not much wheel spin... why would you want to do this?

I dumped my clutch at 5000 once, just to see. The PSM kicked in immediately.

Tried it again with the PSM off and the rears spun for a few feet and then bit.

I think I get better launches just letting out the clutch and mashing the gas.

SSST, what rubber you running on the car?

Why not do it? What is the point of all wheel deive and power if you dont use it? That would be like never turning sharp either...

The AWD system is better tested in the snow or slick road conditions.

remember, there's a highly developed brain in these AWD systems, muscle cars are purely mechanical beasts, so you can abuse the clutch and tires to you're liking and replace as needed. If you start doing this on a Pcar, you're looking at more than just clutch and tire wear; you might start some **** you'll be paying 10 times more than just a clutch replacement.

IMO, with such wide rear tires and torque transfer onto the back mostly, it would be difficult to get "hot rod" wheel spin, which isn't what a Pcar does best, even 2 wheel drives. I would imagine, AWD senses wheel spin in back, then front wheels attempt to grab. you're just trying to trick the system doing a launch like that.
With my Hankooks about 60% tread at the rears, I have throttle steered from a curve and can feel the rears breaking loose as I accelerate somewhat aggressively.; that's with my C2.

In the Turbo I can do the same thing, but they are newer tires, the added HP can break loose the rears even easier on accelerating from a curve. Im not sure if I feel the front diff working to gain traction.

In both situations, once the rears get a grip...the car just moves into "haulin ***" mode.

Im pretty sure during the p car design, that winter and slick conditions where not really the focus.

With a 4 corner scale and tire width and compound changes, I dont see why this car cannot dead hook with a clutch drop. Has anyone played around with this much.

The Turbo was built for a dead hook and flat out driving. And you are kidding, right. Have you checked out YT or Streetfire for Pcars at the strip?

Then what was it built for? Sitting under a car cover?? Surely not...Lol

I hear far more talk about 0-60 which would emphasize hard launching, then I hear people talking about lateral g numbers...

I would have though people would have spent more time getting the suspension and tires dialed in to get a dead hook and improve 0-60 times, you know...

I guess what I am asking is for people to post what they have done in getting the car to launch at or closer to WOT. Diff swaps, spring preload changes, tire and compound changed, etc... and then how it hooked...

I've only been on RL a short time, but what I see across most threads here are track times, track upgrades.

Have you been to 6Speedonline.com? I know they have a l-o-o-n-n-g thread there on 0-100-0 times, 60-130 times . That might be more what you're
looking for.

P cars are designed to not wheel spin, I think that you are barking up the wrong tree.
