Default 996 Carrera power seat

Hello I am new here and own a 99 boxster and a 99 996.
I am trying to troubleshoot my power seat on the drivers side of the 996.
It is not moving. I have taken apart the side switch and cleaned it with contact spray. Nothing.
It has the memory switch on the door sill which I have not touched.
It does nothing as well.
Right now the only thing I hear are faint clicks when I touch the power seat controls. They are only one time each for each time I move the controls. Is there away to figure this out without an electronic tester?
I only have the cheap tester with a contact light
Thanks for advice

Check the fuse for the seat.

I checked the fuse and it is good. With the clicks being heard leads me to think that there is juice but not getting all the way to the motors.

I have been reading about the seat and trying process of elimination. The mirrors work and I understand that they are on the same circuit as the seat memory switch so I have cleared that one.
It is between the control module and the adjustment switch.
Does anyone know of some shade tree checks on this issue?

Doesn't seem like there are many people who work on their own cars in this forum.
Further seat question. The passenger side works so would it be the central seat control module or the drivers side seat switch that is defective?

Could be bad switch, bad motor(s)' or broken drive cables. Are all the functions gone? If so power fault or the switch. If some functions work then switch, motors or drive cables. Do you hear just clicking or do you hear the motors working? There is a motor for fore and aft movement, another to raise and lower the seat and another for the back rest position (with full power seats). With lumber I think there is another.

Either a bad switch (expensive) or there are some coins or something blocking the tracks (what happened with me).

Played around with it today and took out the control module from under the driver side and unplugged every socket and found with even by doing that the passenger seat still worked. I assumed that the seat control module covered both but I guess not.
Further the clicks are coming from the module when I use the driver side switches
None of the functions work on the driver side
Does anyone have any shade tree logic or at home tests that can help me pinpoint this issue? It's really difficult to get the seat out when it is stuck all the way back. Help!

Also is it true that the mirrors and the memory switch are on the same circuit?

I had the exact same seat issue (passenger, luckily). Same symptoms. Spent 3 months working on it to no avail. It's headed to the dealer in mid-March when it is out of winter storage. Will let you know the diagnosis. Like yours, mine is stuck in a place where the bolts can not be removed. Really wish they would have engineered a manual override

Hey Bustingear

I do work on my own car.

Like kromdom said in Post #3 I would recommend downloading the manuals from the site he said. I think what you're looking for is in Group 0 Diagnosis from 61. It's a 48MB file so no chance of sending it to you.

I've found those manuals most useful

Good luck
