It's nice that you are a careful and particular buyer who rightly values history and details when you make a purchase choice. Most of us who frequent these forums are similarly attentive in this regard. However, in this we are the minority. You are not buying a car. You are selling one. You are marketing your car to the majority, rather than the minority. If you have the time and inclination to find (ie: wait for) the right buyer, you may get the premium. On the other hand, if you want to get out so that you can get into something new in short order, you may find that the details which separate your car from those priced at the low end go unappreciated. Keep in mind that these cars are still depreciating fairly rapidly, and the longer you hold on to expectations, the less the car will be worth.

I scoured the country for my C4S (and then lucked out and found exactly what I was looking for just minutes away from me), and most of them I found were in the $30-33k range for asking price, regardless of mileage.

I think the OP is asking if he is going to get offers at $33K for his particular car. There are two members here who just bought either a newer model year and/or less miles at the $33K level.

There is a reason Lapis Blue was a $3,300 color option (it was only $850 back in 2002). I thought Lapis Blue was the best color for the C4S.
When i buy my next Porsche, Lapis Blue is still my first color choice

There were 716 GT2's sold, triple C4S production.
996 C4S do command a premium, not as much as a 993 4S but I would guess $5-7k more than a 996 C2.
For that price its well worth it, you get the wide body, turbo brakes, and turbo sport suspension.
Why buy a C2 when you can get a C4S for only $5k more?

Why buy a C4S when you can get a turbo for only $5k more?
There was a turbo posted today in the member's for sale forum with 80k miles asking $35,500... there are several others if you expand the parameters to $40k.

I had thought about trading up to turbo, but any turbo that i looked at in that $35 to $45k range was run hard and put away wet. None had service records or shaky history. I decided to pass on turbos.
I wouldn't buy a turbo because it was cheap. Thats like buying a used ferrari because it was cheap.

Also, according to one of the UK Porsche magazines, the C4S is the 996 that is most likely to be considered a true classic by Porsche standards down the line - it was in one of the summer issues.

I don't agree that a turbo is 5k more. Equal maintianed car for car is about 10k more. I'm not sure what my next p-car will be. I used to think it would be a gt3 or turbo, but a 997.2 c4s aero is not out of the question. Why buy more car than I need or enjoy?

Have you thought about marketing it to a Canadian audience. C4S are selling in the mid-40s to mid-50s depending on seller and mileage... You could get high 30's from a Canadian buyer and they would still be making out like a bandit.
Based on what I see in the US, mid-30s seems about right for a well maintained and loved car.
